Back in February of 2002 the wrestling world was still searching for it's new identity following the closure of both ECW and WCW the year prior. The year of the new companies became 2002 as it starts with the new company called Ring of Honor would open in February. It wouldn't be too long after the founding of the company that talent like AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Bryan Danielson, and others.
It was in late 2002 when Samoa Joe would make his debut in Ring of Honor and would become the companies World Champion less then a year later. Joe would also later on headline one of the biggest events in ROH history which was lead by KENTA and Samoa Joe. He would become the longest reigning World Champion in the history of the company holding the World title for over a year before losing the title CM Punk but not before being a part of a trilogy of landmark shows for the company main evented by him and Punk. Where the second match of the three match trilogy would be pegged as a 5 star match from Dave Meltzer. Following his departure from Ring of Honor he would join another company that founded in June of 2002 that being TNA Wrestling in the summer of 2005. Fast Forward to the spring of 2015 after a decade in TNA not only would Joe return home to ROH for a short run, but he would make his long awaited WWE debut down in NXT.
