Many people hate the idea that wrestling used to give talent heavy freedom and now is extremely dependent on what the committee comes up with for the talent. Well I’m here to say that though you might think what you’re seeing now is bad the WCW did it worse. When you have a former Pizza Hut regional manager operate as the Vice President of a wrestling company you’re asking for trouble. The infamous man known as Jim Herd aka the only man that Jim Cornette may hate more than Vince Russo.
The early days of the booking committee you had men like Jim Herd, George Scott, and Kip Frey running things in WCW there is no wonder why the company didn’t make money for the first six years or so of its existence. In this series we shall take a look at some of the good things that creative teams have done and some not so good things that creative teams have done over the years.
