Black history Month: Junkyard Dog

2/11/2015

I have said it very often since I started this site that if history isn't talked about it is forgotten because people aren't aware of it. That's why this part of the site exists it is my attempt to preserve the history of wrestling. As everyone knows and if you don't then you will learn that one thing WWE does very well is video packages. They aired on Raw for the Junkyard Dog and that gave me an idea..... over the course of February I will be following WWE and looking back at some of the great African Americans of the past.

In my opinion there are few people better to start with then JYD though he wasn't the first African American wrestler I would say that JYD did break down more barriers on a National scale then those who came before him. JYD with his unmatched charisma and athletic ability became one of the most popular stars of the 1980's second maybe only to Hulk Hogan. Junkyard Dog changed the business for the better and that is why he earned the right to be remember by all wrestling fans.

I love looking back wrestling's past. I view my job as bring new life to the part of wrestling some people thought was gone.
