Growing up I remember watching Global Wrestling Federation. One of the guys I remember well was Rod Price. Rod had this personality that was like no other, he was very California like in a Texas promotion world. He tagged with John Tatum and formed the California Connection. Most people sadly don’t remember that but they do remember his run in ECW with Da Baldies which was a huge turning point of his career. Rod is happily retired and lives in Louisiana. He also is one of the nicest guys that I have got to talk too. Rod was gracious enough to field a few question for me.
You were in Global Wrestling Federation for all 4 years of its existence, why did it go under? Bad promoting,WWF and WCW taking a way alot of talent. You held the GWF Heavyweight Champion what was that like? It was a honor in the beginning,& then who else did they have. That was a bummer. You had an amazing feud with Chris Adams what was he like? Working with Chris was a pleasure. Even when it was hair raising! How would you describe your time in ECW? Most fun,I had in wrestling! You had a couple of tryout matches with the WWE including vs The Rock what was that like? was there any talk of you going there? Yeah there was a time when my name came up,I was my own man,and they didn’t like that. “Too Old School” I was told. Working the Rock, was a night off. You were a part of the Da Baldies in ECW thoughts on that faction? I was so many things in ECW. DA Baldies was just another way to be used. What is your favorite Global Wrestling Federation memory? Tag Teaming w/ Hollywood John Tatum. I Learned a lot from John! What was the Sportatorium like? My time at the Sportatorium span, WCCW,USWA,GWF,CWF. The good Lord has blessed me,beyond my wildest dreams.TY Jesus, my lord & savior. Rod is a great guy and had an amazing career. I want to thank him again for taking the time to answer a few questions. If you get a chance watch a lot of his Global Wrestling Federation matches and ECW matches as they were absolutely fantastic. I would say watch anything in his career if you get a chance. What a great talent that was bestowed to us and one of the most underrated wrestlers in the 90s.
