I would probably be not too far off if I were to say that after this past Sunday everyone still has WrestleMania on the brain and will remember some moments a little better than others. The one moment I am looking for people to remember is from the pre-show more so the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal when JBL said "Big Show has never won a Battle Royal in either WWE or WCW." Well JBL was wrong because he once again is pretending or someone in WWE is pretending that WCW never existed and that World War 3 wasn't a Battle Royal. For those who may not know World War 3 was basically WCW answer to the Royal Rumble only WCW had a little twist on the match. Instead of a 30 man Battle Royal, WCW had a 60 man Battle Royal and the participants didn't come down at intervals everyone started in the ring at one time.Bottom of FormBottom of FormBottom of Form
Also World War 3 was a 60 man, 3 ring Battle Royal usually the stipulation was for the winner to challenge for the World Title, but they never did have the winner face the World Champion.
The card in question didn't just feature a big Battle Royal, but it also featured great matches like: Ultimo Dragon vs Rey Mysterio for the Super J Cup, Dean Malenko vs Psychosis for the Cruiserweight title, & Outsiders vs Nasty Boys vs Faces of Fear for the Tag Team Titles. That comment at WrestleMania just shows WWE's willingness to change or to cover history and not allow people now that people did actually have career's before the WWE.
Though looking back World War 3's Battle Royal now seems like a big cluster **** but back in the day I loved the match, because I am a huge fan of Battle Royal's. This post isn't about bad mouthing WWE it is about pointing out a mistake they made and letting all of you know the truth about the situation.
I love looking back wrestling's past. I view my job as bring new life to the part of wrestling some people thought was gone.
