GFW and Impact Wrestling Come Together5/18/2017 Back a few years ago in the early days of Global Force Wrestling an "invasion" angle kicked off with them entering TNA and gaining limited, but much needed momentum. However, once the angle finished the momentum for the company completely dropped off and by 2016 interest was all but gone in the company. Throughout all of 2016 rumors would run around about the possibility of Impact Wrestling getting sold to a new party. At first it was Billy Corgan, but that fell apart and Corgan was replaced by Anthem Sports and Entertainment that would end up buying the company.
Soon after the announcement of the sale of TNA we started hearing about former TNA champion and founder of both GFW and TNA Jeff Jarrett was back in the company handling the creative once again for the company. Jeff brought both Dutch Mantel and Scott D'Amore back to the company with him to help the creative. At first we saw the likes of Cody Rhodes and Magnus bringing in their Global Force Wrestling championship titles. The company has officially become defunct and merged into Impact Wrestling and was no longer an active company. Global was founded in April 2014 and has gone through ups and downs as a company and hit the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and for the last few years things have been rough for the company. This merger announcement isn't shocking as many wondered what happened to the company once Jeff was announced as the leader of creative. After losing all momentum and interest it is pretty clear that the company belongs in the past. Hopefully, the former World Champion can help stabilize the company he helped found back in the day.
