Now a few weeks ago I started this series using a post about Shotgun Saturday Night, and this series hasn't been heard from since then. For those who maybe unaware what this series is all about, well let me explain I go searching on the internet for blogs about wrestling and I look for post on those blogs that I think are worth sharing with you guys & gals. Fact of the matter is the reason that I do this is to give other people the same opportunity I have every now again and that is to allow my writing to reach a pretty big audience. For this week the blog of the week is about Combat Zone Wrestling and why your opinion of the company is probably wrong.
Before I get into the excerpt from the real post I have to say that I agree with this article completely, because I feel that CZW has taken so much crap over the years that even if the product has gotten better nobody would know, because nobody is willing to give it a chance. I will be the first to admit that under it's previous ownership the lack of actual wrestling was very prevalent. But since the new ownership took over a few years back the violence has been toned down and the actual wrestling has finally found a home and CZW has become more then just a death match wrestling company.
Below is an excerpt from the article:
"Today, CZW is still run by DJ Hyde. While the deathmatch is still very much a part of the equation at CZW courtesy of men like Matt Tremont, Danny Havoc, Devon Moore, Lucky 13 and Conor Claxton, the focus is still on mainstream, traditional wrestling. Despite this, there’s still a negative stigma attached to the company. Despite all the men who came from CZW to go on to the WWE and become top stars in the entire industry, CZW is still seen as a place full of untalented, overweight backyard wrestlers who like to use weapons and do nothing else.
Even though the likes of Moxley and Callihan etc. have moved on, CZW is still filled to the brim with very talented wrestlers who excel in traditional wrestling. Drew Gulak, BLK Jeez, the Crist brothers, Joe Gacy, and Joey Janela are all some of the most talented individuals on the independent wrestling scene today. So if you’re one of those people stuck with the images of Mondo and Wifebeater slicing each other with a weedwhacker and turn your nose up at it, saying that CZW isn’t “real wrestling” (which is an oxymoron, by the way) I hope you reconsider. Go on Youtube and see what DJ Hyde has turned CZW into. It is bound to change your mind, or at least challenge some of the negative perceptions you may have about the company."
