About a week or so ago I did a write up on an independent company based out of Vegas that a National TV deal recently and will be appearing on POP TV; for those who may have forgotten that company's name was Paragon Pro-Wrestling. Well to the surprise of many fans and many writers another Independent wrestling company has landed a National TV deal and that company is House of Hardcore which is Owned by Wrestling Legend Tommy Dreamer. For those that might be unaware Tommy opened House of Hardcore in late 2012 and has been running show all over the east coast since and he even did one show in California.
The network that will be home to House of Hardcore is The Fight Network. The Fight Network is the world's premier 24/7 TV channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports. Also though the Fight Network is a Toronto based TV network it is still available for viewing on selected TV companies throughout the US. "The channel is available on Cablevision’s Optimum TV and Texas-based Grande Communications in the U.S., all major carriers in Canada, over 30 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East."
Tommy is one of the most well respected members of the pro-wrestling industry and has been now for almost over 25 years. The first live show that will appear on The Fight Network will be House of Hardcore 9 on July 18, live from Toronto, ON. In the 8-weeks leading up to the event The Fight Network will have a one hour show featuring highlights from all of the past House of Hardcore events; new episodes will air Tuesdays @ 9PM. As a wrestling fan I love seeing this and not just because I get the station, but because this means more alternatives to the WWE will be available on TV which is awesome.
To say that wrestling could be nearing the break of another golden age may not be to far from the truth. Just think about this for a second when was the last time that Six wrestling companies were on National TV. I will tell you this has never happened, also have to add GFW to the mix as they will likely have a National TV provider so then at that point it would be seven companies with a National TV contract. That would be incredible and I get goose bumps just thinking about it, because that means the business is getting healthier and someone maybe more likely to pose a threat to Vince as fans would have other alternatives on TV. I am calling it now 2015 will be a Big year for the Wrestling business and I for one am looking forward to it.
