If your unsure why I am bashing the show this time well it's because they not only just signed one former contestant they signed 4 others as well to contracts. The original idea was to give to people one man and one woman a contract with the company instead they are giving 7 people from the show contracts and 5 of the people were eliminated during the competition. The WWE going through with this is further damaging the reputation that Tough Enough had as a show that could give some talent a quick springboard to gaining some exposure in wrestling and getting a contract with the big dog. But now the competition is a joke and it's sad, because this used to be my favorite show brought to us by WWE now that's not the case anymore and I can thank WWE for that.
Point of the show was to have two winners male and female then give them developmental contracts to work on their skills in Orlando. I pretty sure nobody would watch a show were 7 people were basically going to win I mean isn't that the case considering now 7 people have contracts with the company. I don't understand how WWE could screw such a simple concept up so much.
Now did they did in the past sign contestant from earlier seasons of the show like Chris Nowinski and Josh Matthews, but that was around a year or so after the show ended and not just a couple of months after. As they knew if they wanted the competition to mean a damn thing then they couldn't just sign other people from the show within months of the show finishing. Either way the WWE has righted some wrongs in hiring Daria, Patrick, and Mada, but I still don't know what they see in ZZ as I have my opinion of him. Lets hope this is the last we see of the now meaningless show known as Tough Enough.
I have said it in the past that the reason we can't truly understand why certain people don't get pushed is because we don't know how they are to deal with backstage. This is especially true when the person your speaking of doesn't have a full time contract with the company and is just freelancer. I think at this point everyone knows Blue Pants, but I don't know if everyone knows 1) Why she got let go from the company 2) That she even got let go from the company.
At this point this situation has become a bigger circus then Lucha Underground possibly coming back from another season, because there are so many different why people backstage think she got let. Just to name a few attitude, being disconnected with the locker room, having a big ego, and a few other reasons. This is just a perfect example why are complaints of why someone isn't getting pushed can only go so far and why we can never know the story. Blue Pants was extremely popular, but sometimes egos can make you lose your job no matter how popular you are.
At this point I think it's common knowledge that two weeks ago at a set of NXT TV Tapings former TNA wrestler James Storm fought in a match. Most people thought that James had signed a contract with WWE but that isn't the case as it seems like it might have been a one of appearance that could turn into something more. Apparently the WWE has been interested in Storm for a while and wanted to offer him a contract similar to Rhino's contract, but to this point Storm hasn't accepted the contract.
As of this writing the only thing agreed upon between the two parties is that Storm would work the TV taping from earlier this month, the WWE wants him to work the upcoming taping later this month as well but nothing is confirmed. Another thing I can say is that once TNA caught wind of WWE's offer they upped their offer to Storm and at this point Storm is just thinking. The thing I don't understand is both the main roster and NXT can use a boost and if Storm is getting a Rhino deal then he will likely not be seen on the Main Roster at all. This signing would be great for NXT, but how are they going to help the main roster. But I will add that it is quiet strange to see both companies interested in the same talent it becoming known.
The one person that has probably had the most negative things about them and hasn't done anything to prove any of the negativity wrong. Eva has proven time and again that she doesn't belong in the ring and would be a very good manager as she is good at getting natural heat.
At this current moment it is being said that WWE is working on coming up with a non-wrestler role for her down in NXT. There is no word right now how much this will effect her push down in NXT if she was to be removed from an in ring role and put at ringside. Well in my opinion taking Eva out of the ring will not only save all the hard work that every woman both on the main roster and in NXT have done to change the stigma tied with being a woman in WWE once brought, but also she would erase any and all prestige both titles have mounted over the last few years. The best thing to do with Eva is either to fire her or take her out of the ring because she has no hope to get better and it's time for WWE to cut their loses and run the other way.
I do believe their is more this story like a definitive answer if WWE is going to do us all a favor and that is to end the torturous and cruel in ring career of Eva. I don't care if they give her a role as a manager or fire her just as long as they take her out of the ring I for one will be extremely happy. Unfortunately we have to wait and see what happens on the Eva front and hope they make the right decision.
At this point defying expectations is something that Takeover does every single time another one takes place it doesn't matter if it's in Brooklyn or in Full Sail they always go above and beyond what the fans thought was possible. They don't just over achieve but with every Takeover the Main Roster talent gets all the more jealous due to the chance they get every time they get in the ring. Now instead of me blabbering on let's get to some things I took from this edition of Takeover:
Dusty Rhodes Memorial Tag Team Classic: the tournament in general was a great way to tribute the world famous "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. Over the course of the tournament many wrestlers put out great efforts, but I think in terms of the tournament Jason Jordan & Chad Gable vs Rhyno & Baron Corbin really put over important the tournament is why it matter. Jordan & Gable gave it all they had and in my opinion showed potential that I really didn't even know they had which is always awesome to see.
Sasha Banks vs Bayley: This wouldn't be a recap if I didn't even mention the Main Event of the show. For those who may have been living under a rock for the last few months then I will tell you for the first time in history the Women's title Main Evented a Major WWE event and they stole the show. These two women tore the house down and proved why they should be taken seriously, proved that women can be the Main Event, and proved that women can sell a PPV. I firmly believe that the series these two had at least one of their matches need to be in the running for match of the year. At first I didn't believe in Women's wrestling but these two women made a believer out of me and I thank you for that.
Cody Rhodes Promo Following the Finn & Joe winning the Tag Team Classic: Now you might be ready this and either A) your thinking what the heck is he talking about or B) your thinking really he is picking that promo. Well is it pretty clear that something from that promo is sticking with me for me to want to write about it. I think what stuck with is just how good Cody is at speaking and how much I missed Cody Rhodes. WWE please let this be a springboard for Cody Rhodes to return to honor his family and carry on the Rhodes name. Cody did a great job and for the sake of his future please let him be Cody again.
I think at this point saying Triple H is a genius and just by looking at what he has made NXT into it isn't hard to see why I would call him that. Part of me always thought Hunter wouldn't be able to run WWE for whatever reason well Hunter proved me wrong and I think he continues to prove his hater wrong with all he is doing in NXT. Thank you Triple H & Steph for investing in the future, because without the vision NXT wouldn't even be a thing right now.
The time talking is over this feud has been one of the best feud that the WWE has done in a long time and just shows why the "Divas Revolution started in the first place, because of the women pictured above giving it all they got every time they are in that ring.
Takeover next week will be the new beginning for Women not divas, but women in the WWE and most people will admittedly say that it has been a long time coming. On Wednesday October 7 live only on the WWE Network for the first time ever two women will main event a major WWE event and it wont be just any type of match it will be an Iron-Woman Match for the NXT Women's Title. They will steal the show next Wednesday; no doubt about it!!!
