About a week ago I went into the wrestling time machine and took a redo on another event from wrestling's past. I decided that with Wrestlemania coming up in 39 days it'd be fun to show how I would've done some Wrestlemania's better then they were done at the time. Again the point of this series it to redo a specific event that I feel could've been done better then it was and not booking over a long period of time like previous series had been focused on.
One of the major changes I made to Wrestlemania 2000 from the outset was cutting the random tag team matches, and the "catfight" between The Kat and Terri. I would replace the random tag matches with a #1 contender tag team battle royal which the APA would win and it would lead to a tag match against Edge & Christian later that month at Backlash. For the next few weeks Edge & Christian would hide in fear from the APA after brawling together the night after Backlash and getting their asses handed to them. Edge & Christian would hold onto the championships keeping the titles for a little while changing the perception of how titles viewed in the company. For those who may not remember at this time WWE loved hot shooting their championships which prevented many title reigns having any meaning. In the build up to Wrestlemania I would change the European Title match on the March 13 episode of Raw instead of a Triple Threat it would be a Fatal Four Way. The reason for this is because of the March 6 edition of Raw when Jericho and Angle fought for the Intercontinental Championship and it ended in DQ. In my opinion, this would open the door for Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle to have a 2 out of 3 Falls Match at Wrestlemania for the gold. This way this could allow Jericho and Angle to have the spotlight in their Wrestlemania debuts. As for the European Championship, Mark Henry would be included in the Fatal Four Way and be given the championship. Fast forwarding to Wrestlemania Henry would defend the European title against Chris Benoit on the card. The reason for this is two fold and both have to with being able to spotlight the championship and giving these two their moment. As far as canning the "cat-fight" segment it is something that belongs on a weekly program and not on the biggest event of the year. Fact is this would be the first Wrestlemania without Vince Russo & Ed Ferrera writing WWE and I know that at this time Vince McMahon was one for long term planning, but this show could've been where things started to change for the better slowing down making the little things matter again. One thing I would hope to accomplish with this booking is trying to reestablish the European Championship as a title that can stand alone which is another reason I would give Chris Benoit the championship as giving the title to someone who matters would help rehab the struggling championship. Note: If you want to look at the initial article click here and remember that Wrestlemania should always be he biggest card of the year. This will be one of the many ways I am hyping up this year's card and stay tuned for which Wrestlemania I will redo next.
