A Change was Needed

For the last five years I've had this site and have been developing this site from the ground up. The website has always been the main focus of my attention and YouTube has just existed in the background. YouTube has never really been given any sort of attention or the spotlight at all, because writing has always been my main focus.

How I view YouTube hasn't changed over the years I still view it the same as I did when I first started, because it isn't about the views especially if you aren't enjoying what you are doing. This is the reason that enjoying what you are doing and the content you are creating matters more then the views you get on the content, because people can see or hear that you are enjoying what you are doing and not forcing it. Views will come eventually, but helping get the word out will help the views come a little quicker.

Promotion or social media push will help expand views, but that is something that I haven't done at all in the last five years. Now I'm giving YouTube the chance to stand on it's own and try to establish a main brand name through YouTube to help not just expand the site, but give the videos more exposure they deserve.

What Does This Mean to You

After five years I felt it was time for a change and after how things went last year I knew I couldn't go back to the old structure. I got burnt out and needed to rebuild my interest in YouTube from the ground up again otherwise it would always be a question of why didn't I start over when I had the chance. Back in February I published my first YouTube video in two months and it was the return back to TEW. From the start though I was thinking about new content that would allow me to take the channel in a different direction.

At this point I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that this series is just my way of trying something extremely different. I wanted to make a simple video that was more focused on promoting a simple message and sort of a call to action. The extent of this series to educate you on a quote that someone said and attempt to get you to share your opinion on what you think the quote means. This is the first step in a different direction to not totally get away from wrestling, but to move to a more well rounded variety of content on the channel.

TEW 2013- Let's Play WWE 2015

I can tell just by looking at the thumbnail of the video that this is not just an early video, but one that I filmed when I was still using my video camera to capture footage. See when I first started recording videos five years ago I would set my video camera up in front of my computer on top of well anything I can stack. It didn't matter if it was DVD's, pads, books or a mixture of all three as long as the camera was high enough to see the screen from a good angle. I didn't know a lot about screen capture software, audio recording, or microphones when I first started recording and it would take a while to figure that stuff out, but when I did you can tell the difference.

In my opinion, the style of recording made the videos look a lot different then other videos, but as with anything the style changes over time and it's made to look better and better. I just found the best software to record the type of content I wanted to record and don't need anything more. Last November, though I put recording videos on the shelf and I thought at the time that I would never go back to recording, but things changed and found a reason to enjoy it again. This is the main reason that I decide to start this section as I wanted to share what my journey has been like over the last five years.

Let's Play: Chaotic Wrestling Episode 1

After three years of How I Would I Book and Let's Play videos I wanted to try something different and try booking a company I didn't know a lot about. I made a mistake though, because the first time I saw the roster and tried l learn the names was when I was recording. Hindsight being 20/20 I should've looked over the roster beforehand and came up with a plan for the company. At that time though I thought that just winging it would work, but it didn't. In the end I only did one other episode of this series before calling it due to lack of interest from me.

Looking back at this upload is something special, because this turned out to be the last solo Let's Play upload until November of last year. At the time I was burned out and didn't really have any ideas any more for solo content to upload. From that point until November of last year I would only upload content with myself and another person in the video. I don't think we will be going back to the original format of Let's Play videos or concept in general, but it's always fun taking a trip down memory lane to see how far we've come in two years.

At this point I've been on YouTube for five years and I thought that since I've recently returned to content creating I thought I would go back and explain what I was thinking at the time of making the video. Of all the video series I did I was looking forward to this one the most of all, because I had been thinking about it for a while and planned everything out to in detail. In the end I didn't end up getting as far as I wanted in the Let's Play, but it was worth it in the long run as I was able to at least the start of the Invasion.

Over the years since the initial Invasion the idea of a re-booking the Invasion from a different perspective has been overdone to the point of exhaustion. Hindsight being 20/20 I know now that WWE did the best they could with what they had at the time even though some fans might believe they would've been better off not doing anything then what they did we all know that's not true. From the start though I knew exactly who I wanted to push and where I wanted to go with the overarching story. I remember discussing it with other players that I had planned Wrestlemania 18 when Wrestlemania 17 had just happened.

Even though at this point almost four years ago I had been playing TEW games for a while and knew how to play the game. I was very naive to the booking of wrestling and thought that I knew enough to book a solid show and just had to have a long term plan. Well this proved me wrong, because even with a "long term" plan at the start plans changed multiple times as the series went on and looking back now I would've done things a bit differently then I did in this series. One thing I would've done differently would've been slowly introducing WCW stars a different way and having some "rules" that came about because of the sale introduced on television. I would also allow the new talent the ability to do "worked shoots" if they felt confident enough to have the ability to gauge there characters and skills on screen. The real question is though How Would You Book the Invasion?
