Since 2009 one man has become the face of the company in Ring of Honor and the first man to hold the ROH World Title on three separate occasions. Adam Cole was brought into ROH as an unknown up and comer and slowly made his way up the card at a time when ROH was starving for new talent. This wasn't the normal push for a talent as this was more or less an old school push as he began in a Tag Team with Kyle O' Reilly collectively known as the Future Shock.
After three years or so Adam and Kyle went their separate ways as a team and became singles stars for the company. In the fall of 2013, Adam Cole made it to the finals of the World Title tournament and actually won the title for the first time and this would begin his ascension to become the "Face of ROH." Over the next four years, Adam would become the biggest star not in the WWE and the "Face of ROH."
Now it isn't official that Adam will be heading to the WWE at this point as he has yet to sign with the company, even though most "insiders" believe he will head there eventually. But at this point with his ROH contract officially finished he is still on the radar of New Japan Pro-Wrestling. At this point it is tough to know for sure where Cole ends up in the future, but what I do know is that it will definitely be interesting to watch.
For the last few weeks contracts both expiring and new have been the talk of the wrestling world and that continues tonight with this update. For weeks rumors have been spreading that various ROH talents contract are not only expiring, but some maybe be leaving the company. Though that was true for one former ROH Tag Team Champion it doesn't seem to be true for one of the most popular teams in Ring of Honor.
That's right the team of Bobby Fish and Kyle O' Reilly collectively known as ReDragon who at first many thought would be leaving Ring of Honor now seem to be on course to remain with the company. As of this writing various reports stated the first offer the team received from ROH was very much a low-ball offer and many thought the team would be leaving. However, talks opened back up and now it seems Kyle & Bobby are happy with the offer and are more leaning to remain with Ring of Honor.
Looking at this in hindsight the loss of ReDragon could have helped a company like WWE whose Tag Team division is really suffering right now due to lack of depth and investment in a variety of teams. But then looking at it from the ROH stand point losing Taven and Bennett has opened up a whole in the division that would've gotten even bigger with the loss of ReDragon as well.
At this point the former three time Ring of Honor World Champion is now a free agent and done with the company. That's right! Adam Cole is now at this point not under contract with ROH anymore. This means that Adam will be able to work or sign anywhere at this point and time. Now this doesn't necessarily mean he is done with ROH, but it does mean that he is no longer under contact with the company anymore.
There have been numerous reports on where Adam will end up and that there is said to be a tremendous amount of interest in Adam from various companies. As of this writing Adam has not made a decision on where he will head to next following the expiration of his contract. Many believe that Cole will be WWE or NXT bound in the next few months and that is possible and will seem likely but hasn't happened yet.
At this point looking at his run in ROH there is no doubt that he helped build that brand and that company to brand new heights and his run has done wonders for both the company and Cole. Over the last two years Adam has really become an international superstar as a member of the NJPW roster and a top member of the Bullet Club. What the future holds for Adam at this point is unknown, but the intriguing nature of this story will keep our interest.
Recently the man who has held the World Title more times then anyone else in ROH history has made big news in the wrestling as he is now wrestling's hottest free agent. I thought that it would be fitting to give the man himself Adam Cole the spotlight a little sooner by sharing one of his many shoot interviews from the online world. Adam Cole has always been an extremely talented in ring performer and has accomplished a tremondous amount in ROH and one just can't help but wonder what the future holds.
Recently, I have been looking ahead at how things will be in the top companies a year from now and at this point we have went through the WWE and TNA. In pro-wrestling it is very difficult to predict where we will be in a year, because you never know who will stay in the company or who could get injured between now and this time next year.
In this video I make a few bold predictions for what I think we could see from ROH in the next year and though I do think my predictions are fair and fitting it is difficult to be certain especially with this company. The reason this is the case is because if you look at this year so far two thing have happened that nobody expected to see Christopher Daniels win the World Title. Also nobody expected the debuts of the Hardy Boys and Bubba Ray Dudley, but both happened which brings up the thought is the slogan "Anything Can Happen!" now more fitting for ROH.
