For the last few weeks contracts both expiring and new have been the talk of the wrestling world and that continues tonight with this update. For weeks rumors have been spreading that various ROH talents contract are not only expiring, but some maybe be leaving the company. Though that was true for one former ROH Tag Team Champion it doesn't seem to be true for one of the most popular teams in Ring of Honor.
That's right the team of Bobby Fish and Kyle O' Reilly collectively known as ReDragon who at first many thought would be leaving Ring of Honor now seem to be on course to remain with the company. As of this writing various reports stated the first offer the team recieved from ROH was very much a low-ball offer and many thought the team would be leaving. However, talks opened back up and now it seems Kyle & Bobby are happy with the offer and are more leaning to remaing with Ring of Honor.
Looking at this in hindsight the loss of ReDragon could have helped a company like WWE whose Tag Team division is really suffering right now due to lack of depth and investment in a variety of teams. But then looking at it from the ROH stand point losing Taven and Bennett has opened up a whole in the division that would've gotten even bigger with the loss of ReDragon as well.
I know it I am going for this a little earlier then I normally do, but there was never a specific day for this to only be posted. Looking back at this match it is hard to believe it took place four years ago as I remember seeing this match when it first aired on TV. Also think about the fact that at this time Kyle hadn't started to team with Bobby Fish yet and Davey was still in Ring of Honor that's how long ago it was.
After jealousy and tension bolded over the tumoultous friendship of Kyle & Davey reached a boiling point on this episode of ROH TV when they locked horns it what was a very good TV main event. This match should the talent everyone knows Kyle and has and is one of the many reasons that Davey ended up getting signed by TNA within the next few years. Enjoy this trip down memory lane.
Though not confirmed at this point where the couple is headed once their respective contracts expire with Ring of Honor one thing is almost for certain and that is neither will be returning to ROH with a new contract. The early part of the year sees numerous top ROH star's contracts expiring including: ReDragon, Jay Lethal, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett, and others. It would have been tough for Ring of Honor to resign everyone, because retaining your roster especially when the company is continuously growing is one of the hardest things for any company to do. The only question that I am wondering is if Mike & Maria aren't staying with ROH where will they end up and have their contracts with the company expired already.
If the latter is the case and they are free agents then I applauded all the parties involved for not spoiling the surprise. As of this writing it does seem as though Mike will likely end up in the most unlikely of places and if your thinking NXT then we aren't thinking a like. I don't want to spoil the potential surprise, but if your aware of the rumors going around for upcoming debut this week this you may know who I'm referring to. I could also be extremely wrong which is another reason why I'm not pushing the idea it's definitely him.
I always thought that Mike had tremendous potential when he was a singles wrestler, but was also little green and needed sometime to learn how to work. His team with Taven was by far the best thing that could've happened to both Matt and Mike and if it is over then Mike's future isn't the only one with question marks all over it.
