In the past few years the WWE has made a habit of picking off various ROH talent and bring them to NXT/FCW. Just to name some talent that WWE has taken: CM Punk, Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson), Kevin Owens (Kevin Steen), Sami Zayn (El Generico), and others. Now more talent seem to be on the radar of WWE and could be walking away from ROH following the expiration of their contracts.
Out of the three talent I will speak of only one is absolutely not going to WWE even though they did have interest in him and that person is Moose, as he just resigned a contract with ROH after month ago. But below I will talk about two major names that are on WWE's radar and maybe leaving ROH:
Adam Cole: The Former ROH TV & World Champion has been on WWE's radar for a few years now and nothing has come of it. But just remember Cole is one of the talents who was signed back when ROH was first bought by Sinclair in 2011 so it could be possible that his contract is expiring soon. In my opinion ROH has done a good job of moving Cole out of the World title picture and making him a part of The Kingdom. I think if Adam did walk away from ROH losing him wouldn't hurt as bad now as it once would have.
Jay Lethal: The Current ROH World Champion & Television Champion, Jay is currently the face of Ring of Honor and would be a huge loss for the WWE once his contract expires. As of this writing it seems as though Jay's contract is up within the next few months and some believe that Jay was given the World Title and such a big push as a way to try and get him to stay with the company. Right now I think a case could be made for Jay to go either way, because he has never been a World Champion before and is finally getting the opportunity. But he has also to my knowledge never been offered a contract by WWE. So in reality it's a double edged sword, and for once I can not stand firmly behind one side, because Jay would have a lot to gain with either choice.
I don't know about you guys, but for me at least this topic of is Joe staying on the Indies or going to WWE at one point was nothing other then rumors and now Joe is working his last date ROH (for real this time) on Saturday. I am sure everyone would have liked to see Samoa Joe stay in ROH a little bit longer, but things don't always work out the way you them to, Which is unfortunate because I think some dream matches in ROH could have been done with Samoa Joe. However, a match that I for one never thought I would see again is happening this Saturday night in New York City.
The night after what has become one of ROH's biggest shows of the year "Best in the World" at the Aftershock TV taping we will see Samoa Joe's last ROH appearance. Now many thought Joe's last appearance for the company was those appearances months ago, but things changed and he was able to comeback, but then things changed again and now he's on his way to Orlando and NXT full-time. Samoa Joe's last appearance in ROH is currently the only match announced for Aftershock TV taping and it is........

As most fans know at this point ROH debuted on Destination America as the lead in to Impact Wrestling this past Wednesday. The network seems to want a new look for the show and now finally their will be an increase in production at ROH live TV tapings. I say finally because in from all of the people I spoke to the only issue they had with ROH is that the production value of the company doesn't seem to be that good, hopefully this is a step in the right direction for the company.
Also it seems as though some live specials from ROH to air on Destination America. As of this writing it seems like there is talk of doing only one or two a year in terms of live specials. Honestly not enough information is known about this possible step right now to write to much about it. All I do know is that as long as Sinclair is ok with the live specials it would be an awesome opportunity for the company and the talent to get added exposure on National TV. Big growth could be in the future of Ring of Honor, well have to wait and see how things go.
Something's about wrestling will never change like the ring and the theme music, but also it seems as though wrestling toys are just as important now as they were in the 1980's for companies. ROH has signed with the company Figure Toy Co. to create the first edition of their wrestling figures. The first series for ROH's figures will include Former ROH World Champion Kevin Steen (Whatever happened to that guy), Former ROH TV & World Champion Adam Cole, One half of the Greatest ROH Tag Team Ever Mark Briscoe, and ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe.
Reading this news in all honesty makes me wish I still played with wrestling toys as I would have loved to have the above mentioned talent. However, I have long stopped playing with the toys one bad thing about getting old. I firmly believe that this is a great step towards getting more exposure for ROH and the talent. If your curious I found a picture of what the figures look like, the picture is featured below.
