The most surprising news of this week came out a few days ago when it was announced that ROH has signed to air shows on Destination America. Right now their contract seems to be for 26 weeks starting on June 3rd when their first show airs on Destination America. You might remember a couple of months ago when there were rumors going around ROH possibly signing on with Destination America, but may people doubted the likelihood because of the fact that ROH is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting. The relationship between ROH & DA (Destination America) is something that has been built up over the last few months and is totally independent of whatever is going between TNA & DA.
For those wondering ROH will remain on Sinclair through Syndication & now will have a TV company with National TV exposure that being DA to air their shows as well. Also the shows that are aired on Sinclair stations on Saturdays will be the same show that is aired on DA on Wednesdays. As of this writing it seems like TNA was caught off guard by the announcement of this deal and never saw it coming.
Destination America is all for having Wrestling on the network, but it depends on the ratings the shows get if they stay on or not. Some people believe that, because of how cheap ROH is to produce it could lead to ROH staying on the Network and the other company leaving. To share an interesting fact with you all with this deal in place ROH has moved into the #2 spot for a wrestling company in the United States in terms of viewership. This deal is a huge deal for the wrestling industry as whole because more eyes are getting on the alternatives and that means only good things for the industry.
