Most people are aware that last week Samoa Joe officially made his debut for the NXT brand at the end of the NXT live special on the WWE Network. Once Joe left the first place he ended up was back "home" at Ring of Honor as he returned during the Anniversary show in Vegas. At that show the seeds were planted for Joe vs Jay Briscoe later in the year possibly over the summer. However, this is also when the rumors started spreading that Samoa Joe would be joining the WWE and starting in NXT. Shortly after his arrival in Ring of Honor, Samoa Joe left the company for unknown reasons at the time, but reasons that turned out to be a WWE commitment.
Now your probably thinking if he is working in NXT and as a part of the WWE how could he return to ROH. Well before you jump to the possible conclusion that Samoa Joe is no longer in the WWE, I will say Joe still is a part of NXT. The reason that Joe is allowed work for NXT and ROH is because he does not have an exclusive contract with the WWE.
Something that is becoming a little more common for WWE is bringing in talent that is known to work with the "young guns" down in NXT. Much like the WWE did with Rhyno who is able to work for other companies while also working for WWE they did for Samoa Joe. It has been said that Samoa Joe's contract with WWE is short-term, but is the same type of contract that Rhyno has just for more money.
It would probably help if I mentioned the show that Joe is returning to Ring of Honor:
Terminal 5, Manhattan (NYC)
Samoa Joe & AJ Styles vs ROH World Tag Team Champions The Addiction (Chris Daniels & Frankie Kazarian)
I never thought I would see WWE sort of working with the other companies like they are because by not signing talents like Joe & Rhyno to exclusive contracts they help other companies have bigger name on their roster. Think about this Samoa Joe is now going to have not only all ROH fans know his name, but also everyone who has the WWE Network. I also think that because of the type of contract he has that is why Joe is called Samoa Joe in the WWE.
