Late last wee it was announced that Destination America was removing the 8pm showing of Ring of Honor Wrestling on their TV station, but keeping the 11pm showing. This may have lead some fans to think that Destination America was souring on ROH or wrestling. Well I am hear to quell the rumors and stop anyone from jumping to conclusions. ROH and Destination America's relationship isn't over as this move only seems to be temporary.
Destination America has told ROH officials that nothing has changed with the relationship between the TV company and ROH. However, it is just really an experiment Destination America wants to do for a few weeks by not having wrestling in that time slot. I believe it could just have something to do with the fact that ROH & DA's deal isn't for new content and so Destination America isn't making a lot of money for a Prime time show which is where most TV companies make their money. This isn't my way of saying that after a few weeks ROH will be back in the 8pm time slot nothing has been said about that, all I am saying is that it seems as though Destination America just wanted the opportunity to make more from a prime time show then they were making with ROH.
Also bear this is in mind the ratings for the replay may have even been a little bit better overall then the first airing, because of the lead in from Impact. So in reality Destination America at this point is using TNA as a way to grow the ROH audience on their channel. It will be interesting to see how things are in a few weeks from now. We just have to wait to find out.
