Almost 30 years at one job is that long enough to have everyone of your co-workers Respect? Well that description doesn't fit the build of the TNA Senior official Earl Hebner. That's right legendary referee Earl Hebner will become the first referee to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of a "Major" wrestling company.
The announcement was made a few weeks ago that Earl would be joining Jeff Jarrett as a member of this year Hall of Fame class for TNA Wrestling. Right now TNA Producer and Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan will handle the induction of Mr. Hebner. Yes I don't understand the idea behind choosing Billy instead of say Earl's son Brian or his brother Dave to do the induction. Especially when Brian is currently working for the same company as his father in the same capacity as his father.
Currently the induction is set to take place This Saturday Night October 3 during the live event in Hebner's state of Virgina which will likely be a very emotional moment for the legendary ref. I for one want to say that if any referee in modern wrestling deserves this honor it's Earl. Congrats Mr. Hebner on your induction into the TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2015.
So late last week I did this post on Global Force Wrestling were I chose to express my opinion on the company to this point and I thought it went well. So I thought to make another post and this time base it around TNA. Though my opinion of the company maybe an unpopular opinion, but as you might know from the past I don't really care agree or not just respect it.
Well now onto the post now like I said my opinion of TNA will not be a popular opinion, but not in the way most think of when you say unpopular. At this point I believe that the number of people that actually still believe in TNA wrestling is down to a very slim number and yes a lot of the blame falls on TNA themselves for that. However, I still believe in TNA not that they can compete with Vince, because that idea is long gone. I do think that they could have the chance to at least succeed as a company and continue powering along the bumpy rode they have been on for the last 13 years or so.
I entirely believe that a number of people who read this post will probably say something like how can you say that you believe in the company like what is the catch. Well there is no catch I really do believe in TNA and the idea that they still have future for some success in wrestling. Also my belief has nothing to do with any changes they can make or anything like that I just think that if certain things can start going right for TNA then they can still make a new reputation.
Overall the company has done better this year then they had in the past it just a matter of not being good enough and not being very bad. The expense of producing a wrestling show has always been a problem for companies, it's just that ratings were their to back up keeping the show. Unfortunately for TNA the price is high and the ratings aren't their right now. But I do believe if certain things start going right for TNA then they could still have a chance in this crazy world of wrestling.
Though for many in TNA the highlight of the summer was seeing the 2 years of build up of Ethan Carter III. But for most of the summer we saw Kurt Angle hold the TNA World Title. In many ways the only reason he may have dropped the title due to unfortunate circumstances. Angle has been away from TV since August due to multiple surgeries to remove a benign tumor in his neck. This will be a big boost to a TNA show that has seemingly needed something to pull themselves out of the funk they have been in, it's just a matter of how much will Angle push TNA forward.
Even though as of right now Kurt is on the shelf and will actually not be returning this month to the company, his return will still help them very much so. Angle is set to return the weekend of October 4th which is Bound For Glory weekend. Angle will truly return on October 3rd at a house show in Salem, Virginia and then will also be featured in some form on the PPV the next day.
However, as it seems with TNA wherever we find good news then bad news isn't to far behind. Unfortunately that is true in this case also as even though Angle will be coming back in October he will not stay. Once his current contract is up with TNA he will be walking away from the company and taking a break from Wrestling. Angle has been wrestling since 1997 or 1998 and hasn't really taken any long breaks during the time which is a very long time to something non-stop. Taking a hiatus will be good for Kurt, but it probably wont be good for TNA. At this point though not much is known about Kurt's current contract status or when he would walk away from the company. This is an interesting subject, but we don't know much right now and we shall learn more as the story progresses.
For the last two years things have been incredibly bad for TNA, losing many of their top stars and losing their national TV deal with Spike late last year. To start this year they began a new TV deal with Discovery Channel affiliate Destination America. For most of this year the rumors have been running rampant that the problems have continued in TNA, with their current TV deal being in doubt with Destination America.
As of this writing you can let the rumors continue as International Discovery affiliates have already began to remove TV from their stations. The Discovery affiliates in Romania and Spain have chosen to remove TNA from their stations. This coming after the rumors making rounds that at the end of September, TNA would be removed from Destination America. The contract opt-out clause is at the end of the month so things might be getting interesting this month.
Following her departure from TNA in 2013, Sarah "Sarita" Stock continued to work for the Mexican wrestling promotion CMLL full time. That was until recently when word started to spread that Stock would be leaving CMLL for the WWE to become a trainer down in NXT. Stock had been a guest trainer at the developmental territory several times over the past year or so, most recently in June. Stock can also be seen as an extra in the Tyler Brezze entrance from NXT Takeover: Unstoppable from back in May.
Sarita's time in both CMLL and TNA adds considering the close nit relationship TNA has had with the companies from the south of the border for years. Including Jeff Jarrett's long standing partnership with AAA. As Sarita's tenure in TNA went on it seemed to get worse as it seemed like she was the partner/trainer of the much younger Rosita when they were a part of the stable called Mexican America back in 2012-2013. Some achievements from Sarita's career in both TNA and CMLL are listed below:
Two time TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion
2009 TNA Knockouts Tag Team Tournament Winner
1-1 in Mask vs Hair matches in Mexico (Never knew women competed in these matches also)
Only women to hold championship gold in three different countries (Mexico, US, and Canada)
Stock's last show with CMLL will actually be later this with as a part of the CMLL Anniversary show on September 18. As of this writing it seems like her contract is just expiring and it is being said that she is walking away to explore other opportunities, and well being a trainer is a new opportunity. We shall see where this story goes from here, interesting story.
