Weekly Report: #6
A new week is almost here and that means we need to look back at the previous week one more time.
This past week's edition of AEW Dynamite was by far the best, and most well rounded episode thus far and set the bar high for upcoming episodes of the show. Reality is it is where we are going and not something to expect on a regular basis. Cody and Wardlow really defied expectations for the first Steel Cage in AEW history and Cody's moonsault was the smoothest thing I've seen in a long time. I don't always praise AEW, but this was a great show ahead of Revolution and I will be paying attention this Wednesday night.
WWE will return to Saudi Arabia this week coming up with another Super Showdown, but this time The Fiend will collide with Goldberg for the Universal Title and it will be the test for WWE to see if they've changed. The Fiend needs to be given his chance to show how credible he can be and Super Showdown is the first step for him to do that.
A month after Jushin "Thunder" Liger officially called it a career another legendary figure from New Japan's past will be hanging up the boot for the last time. New Japan legend Manabu Nakanishi wrestled his final match yesterday in Korakuen Hall competing alongside his friends Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima, and Yuji Nagata one final time. Nakanishi may not have reached the level of some of his fellow stars, but he will leave behind legacy of incredible moments and memories that helped define a generation of New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Nakanishi chose to go out on his terms and in wrestling that is always applauded so even though we are sad to see you go we are thankful you leave on your terms. Thanks for the memories and enjoy a much deserved retirement.
