I am almost certain that I know that I am not the only who still likes to play the old school wrestling games like the original WWE video games like Smackdown Here Comes the Pain, Smackdown 2, or the long standing Smackown vs Raw video game series.
So now as we are ready to celebrate 20 years of WWE video games on the PlayStation from In Your House to WWE Smackdown vs Raw to WWE 2K17. So now with another installment of the game around the corner I figured it fitting to look back in time to an early installment of the series on the PlayStation 2 and that my friend is Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain. Just a little note for this game I will say that much like the previous installment of the series with Smackdown: Just Bring It being built around The Rock, Here Comes the Pain was built around the "Next Big Thing" Brock Lesnar.
As you guys and gals already know I love to do series even if the series only goes for a couple of weeks or a few months still that doesn't matter. I know I am not the only person who still likes to play older games and even though I don't really play many old games anymore that doesn't mean I don't look back.
Looking at these videos gives me goosebumps because I flash back to playing it as a kid or when I was younger so I get hit with a lot of nostalgia while watching these videos. But it's good nostalgia and it's good memories because I spent a lot of time playing this game and even when I grew up a little I still played it and I loved Smackdown 2 and still do. In my book this game was way ahead of it's time and with the special "hidden" characters in the game it reflected how ahead the WWE was even in video games as compared to the WCW at the time.
So even though most people may take one look at the graphics in the videos and cringe at how different the game is compared to the game seen nowadays. But as I have said more than once if history is spoke of it is forgotten and yes even in the video game world. It's good to go back and see how far they've come in the last 16 years. God I feel old!! :)
