For WWE last year was a bad year for the top tier talent when it came to staying healthy and now things have changed, but not for the better as the injury bug has now infected the tag team division. Fact is more then half of the WWE's tag team division has landed on the shelf and we are only half-way through the year which is unfortunate for what was becoming a very healthy and deep division for the first time in years.
The bad part about these unfortunate events not only has it negatively effected the Tag Team division, but also now the partners of those men who got hurt are now in a "booking limbo" of sorts. This is because they are in a tag team and their partner got injured so now creative doesn't really know what to do them as you don't want to invest to much in them as a singles wrestler, because then you may not want him to go back to being a team following his partners return. This Unfortunate side effect is leaving the talents below in "booking limbo":
Cesaro: By the far the man who has been most effected by the injury to his partner. (outside of his partner of course) For those who may not be aware Tyson Kidd actually got injured a few weeks back and will remain on the shelf for the next 12-14 months following neck surgery. Now many people think that Cesaro should now receive a bump up in the card of sorts rather then losing every week, and I agree with that logic. However, when does the push stop as you don't want to build him up to much, because once Kidd comes back then it wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to reform. Which is why I support Cesaro being pushed to a point, but then kept at whatever point he is pushed to until Kidd comes back.
Erick Rowan: After months of being in limbo in a different sense, they finally found something for Rowan to do and that was reforming his team with Harper. Sadly a few weeks after reforming the team Rowan would get hurt on a house show and now is injured for 6-8 months. This stinks for both guys as I firmly believe that before the end of the year Harper & Rowan would have been Tag Team Champions at least one time. However, the future is still bright for the former Wyatt Family members once Rowan returns.
Jimmy Uso: Since his brother Jey's injury back around WrestleMania, many people wondered what Jimmy was going to do without his brother. Well our questioned was answered a few weeks later when Jimmy began actually announcing on Superstars or Main Event every week. Jimmy has become one of the announcers on Smackdown on a temporary basis likely until Tough Enough and Booker, T returns to the announce position on Raw for Byron. This was a great idea as Jimmy isn't actually that bad at doing commentary and them doing this keeps him out of the ring, but still on TV. Also it allows the fans to see him in a different light then before. Out of all the injuries from the Tag Team division Jey will be the first to return from his long term injury.
For the first time in years the Tag team division was actually deep, exciting, and relevant which is great to see as Tag team wrestling had been undervalued in the WWE for years. Not everything comes easy though as the once deep division only consists of 5 different teams. (Two of whom the fans may not really care about) But each teammate will be back and sooner or later the WWE Tag team division will be deep, exciting, and relevant once again.
