Thinking about it, Seth Rollins made the jump over to The Authority around a year ago and for almost if not his entire stay in the stable he has had J & J Security be his side. For those who don't know J & J Security consist of former WWE superstars Joey Mercury & Jamie Noble. But it seems as though following the Elimination Chamber Network special tensions have boiled over among the members of The Authority and a rift seems to be forming. I don't think that the rift will get beyond repair just yet, but as time goes on the rift will get bigger. For right now let's just take a look at how J & J Security rose to the "top" of the WWE Ladder.
I feel as though the phrase "Started from the Bottom now Where Here" fits Joey & Jamie's career paths in the WWE very well. Both men actually began their careers in the WWE developmental territory and they both were actually in the territory at around the same time as they both came into the company after WWE acquired ECW & WCW. Now let's take a trip down memory lane to see where each guy came from and how they got to the WWE.
Joey Matthews actually began in the wrestling as a part of the local North Carolina organization called OMEGA or Organization of Modern Extreme Grapping Arts which was ran by the Hardy Boys. For years Joey would travel the indies until the fall of 2000 when he and longtime partner/rival Christian York would join Extreme Championship Wrestling. Joey & York would never become ECW Tag champions, but one could assume if ECW stayed in business Joey & Christian may have been able to hold the Tag titles. Joey would stay with ECW until very end and was actually apart of the first match on the last ECW PPV in January of 2001. Following the closure of ECW Joey would go on to work for all three of the top North American wrestling companies in WWE, TNA, and ROH. Joey's next big break came when he signed a developmental deal with the WWE and reported to then developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling. Joey would signed with in mid-2004 and was then brought to the Main Roster by April of the following year. Joey was now known as Joey Mercury and was one half of MNM with Johnny Nitro and they were managed by Melina. They would become one of the best teams in Smackdown history within a very short time.
As we skip ahead around a year and half Joey would end up getting let go from his contract and was once again a free man. While away Joey would make returns to both OVW and ROH. Joey would then return to WWE in 2010 as the masked member of the Straight Edge Society. Later that year Joey would actually begin working down in FCW as a trainer and then was called up to the Main Roster as a producer. Joey seemingly beat his demons to reach the peak of his career over the last few months as a member of The Authority and as a member of J & J Security. It is stories like Joey's that make you proud to be a wrestling fan.
Who could forget the "Resident Redneck" of J & J Security in Jamie Noble. Much like Joey got his big break in ECW, Jamie would get his big break in the WCW. While in WCW Jamie was a part of one of the few bright spots of the later days of WCW; Jamie was actually a part of the Jung Dragons under the name Jamie San and the Dragons feuded with 3 Count. The teams had two incredible ladder matches on two separate WCW PPV's in the span of a few months. Jamie would remain with WCW until the closure of the company in March of 2001 and Jamie was actually featured in a 3 way Tag match on the final Nitro. After the purchase Jamie would report to the WWE Developmental territory known as Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA). Noble would debut with the Main Roster after a little over a year in HWA, Jamie would actually become the WWE Cruiserweight champion within in a short time after being called up. While on the main roster would feud with the likes of Tajiri, Billy Kidman, Rey Mysterio, and his former "girlfriend" Nidia. Late 2004 Noble was let go from his contract after asking to take some time off. While away Jamie would work under the name James Gibson and would have short stints in both NJPW & ROH before returning to the WWE. (Note: While in ROH he would actually become the ROH World Champion for a short time) Upon returning Noble would actually form a short lived Tag Team with Kid Kash known as The Pitbulls. Fast forward to Great American Bash 2008 to where one of Jamie's most infamous feuds would begin as he is the one who Hornswoggle pinned to win the Cruiserweight title. Following the lose Noble would feud with Hornswoggle mostly getting bested by the "leprechaun." On the November 2 edition of Monday Night Raw Noble was power-bombed on the outside of the ring by Sheamus and following that segment Noble "retired" from the ring and moved to a backstage role. That is how we get to this point with Jamie as a member of J & J Security.
After nearly 40 years in the wrestling business combined between the two of them I feel it is safe to say that after all the hard work and dedication, Joey Mercury & Jamie Noble have finally made it and are stars on the big stage. Congrats to both men they deserve the opportunity after putting in so much it's great to see them getting the opportunity to cash in.
