In 1983 Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka did something bad, and for 32 years this man has had to live with it. There has always been rumors that he allegedly killed a woman and now it has come back to haunt him.
In the mid 90s my dad took me to see him wrestle, he was long out of the WWF at that time, he was wrestling at a baseball stadium post baseball game. On that card as well was George the Animal Steele and King Kong Bundy. I remember seeing Snuka light up a cigarette and hiding from the fans before he was suppose to sign autographs. I remember how old he looked and how out of shape and beaten down. It was sad to see him like that, I remember he charged $10 dollars for an autograph which is the usual charge by most wrestlers. He seemed nice but was really out there as well.
This summer I had the opportunity to work for a local independent promotion. They had planned to bring in Snuka to work a show and sign autographs. Around that time it came out that he had stomach cancer and was unable to come, but I remember one show I helped work they talked about him and what he possibly did and how that he possibly killed a person and Vince covered it up. I honestly had heard something like that long ago but it was the first time I had heard it in the wrestling circles.
Now with Snuka dying of cancer, having dementia as his lawyer claims what do you do with him? The person I feel for the most is Tamina. She wrestles under his last name, what does she do now? I know that she is not his legal daughter but still though you have to feel for her and what she is going to do from here on out.
The next person you have to wonder about is Vince Mcmahon. Did Vince hid the fact that Snuka did it all these years ago. If Vince did, this will be the end of him and he will most likely have to give up the WWE. Triple H has proved he has what it takes to run WWE for the very long future. I don't see Shane coming back to run the business anytime soon.
The Other question that now comes out of this is what do you do in Snuka's case for the WWE Hall of Fame and WWE Network. Do you erase him like they did for Chris Benoit? Do you take him off the WWE Hall of Fame but you can still look him up on the Network? These are things that the WWE Network will have to figure out and fans will wonder as well.
In the end nobody wins in this situation and its just sad because a man hid a lie for 32 years, somebody died, and fans are sad because their hero was someone different then what he came off to be. In the end you take out Snuka out of the Hall of Fame, but keep his matches on the Network and you just never bring him up again.
