Over the years the WWE has taken it's fair share of criticism from it's fans about things they have done to talents like gimmicks they have given or matches that were lost that many thought should have been won. One of those gimmicks nobody liked from the start was New Day which included Xavier Woods, Big E Langston, & Kofi Kingston singing and clapping. Many thought when their stable was in the early stages of coming together last summer everyone thought that they would be the new and improved Nation of Domination, but all of those people were disappointed when this comedy gimmick began. For the last couple of months the fans have turned against the New Day and are chanting New Day Sucks every time they clap and scream New Day.
At Extreme Rules the New Day "stole" the Tag Team titles away from Kidd & Cesaro who had been great champions, but it was time for them to drop the titles. Kofi & Big E won the match I believe by Xavier Woods holding Kidd's foot, but I am not sure either way they cheated to win some how and it worked. I am extremely happy to see that WWE is allowing the New Day to "embrace the hate" from the WWE Universe instead of trying to keep them good like have done with other talents. I mean, truth be told I never thought I would see the day that Kofi Kingston would actually get over as a heel in the WWE after how long he was a good guy. But I am very glad to be proven wrong, because it gives Kofi some much needed new life, because I think at this point him as a good guy was way too overdone.
But now it seems like people love to hate the New Day and therefore have made what may thought to be a horrible gimmick for all involved a successful gimmick, because the guys are getting a reaction from the fans which is their job. Whether you like the gimmick or you hate it either way the New Day is now a New Success and the first success gimmick wise for the WWE in a while.
