This will not be an often post, I just found out about 3-5 minutes ago that a very famous angle from the WWE's past took place on this day back in 1988. On this day back in 1988 the WWF as they were called at the time ran a special event which saw Andre The Giant face off with Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Title in the Main Event. At this time Andre was a part of the Million Dollar Corporation with Ted Dibiase and Virgil also a part of the stable with him.
On this broadcast, however, something was different and people didn't realize what it was until the end of the match between Andre and Hogan. It came to the finish of the match when we saw Hulk getting pinned and he had his shoulder up but the ref "didn't see it" and kept counting or so we thought as it turned out that the ref was paid off by Ted Dibiase to "screw" Hogan out of the WWF Title. Following the match, Andre would sell the WWF Title to Ted Dibiase and we would also find out that there were two ref's who looked exactly alike (Dave & Earl Hebner) and they would fight one another following the end of the match as well.
Now you may be thinking how could Andre sell the WWF Title well that was the thing exact thing WWF President Jack Tunney thought and there by vacated the title from Andre on the grounds that the WWF Title cannot be sold.
These events lead to the WWF World Title Tournament at Wrestlemania 4 live from Atlantic City, NJ
