Express Hall of Fame: Paul Orndorff

1/6/2024

Though he was never a World Champion in the World Wrestling Federation, he was a part of the early expansion of the WWF under Vince McMahon and without "Mr. Wonderful" everything would've been a lot different. Orndorff was a veteran in the wrestling business by the time he found his way to the WWE in 1984 spending time in territories like GCW and Mid South.

Upon his arrival in the WWF the man best known as Mr. Wonderful would spend time on both sides of the fence as a friend and fierce rival to Hulk Hogan. Orndorff would be included in history as Roddy Piper's partner against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T in the main event of the first Wrestlemania. In the summer of 1986, Orndorff turned on Hogan sparking a rivalry that would lead to The Big Event and outdoor show in Toronto in front 76,000 people. Following his feud with Hogan, Orndorff would turn face again feuding with the Heenan Family before leaving the WWE.

Mr. Wonderful would see a rebirth to his in ring career during his short stay with SMW as it was his time with Smokey Mountain that reopened the door to join WCW. Following his debut in WCW, Orndorff wouldn't find a new place to work until the company closed in 2001. Orndorff would retire from the ring in 1995 becoming a trainer and agent within the ranks of WCW. I'm honored to welcome "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff into the Wrestling Express Hall of Fame Class of 2024!!
