The TNT Championship tournament has been a sleeper for an unexpected great crop of television during a tough time for society. Seeing the history retold between Cody and Darby it shows that their past matches were important and worth remembering. I also like the fact that they talk about how Dustin's shock decision to question his career and losing would've effected QT and Brandi as they have become a trio. Instead of ignoring a questionable decision they addressed it to allow everyone to make sense of the situation. Starting with the TNT Championship and ending with the TNT Championship shows how important the championship is being portrayed. Dustin putting the title over as the most important thing in his career and an honor for him to earn the achievement. One thing that I've had a problem with is that AEW hasn't given enough time to the unproven stars is that they need to show more character and get attention from the audience. This sit down with Tony was very personal and a little real or legit it felt like it gave Darby another layer it felt a little more serious. Darby showed a new side to his career a little more darker more quite it's like the only saying goes when everyone is yelling it's your turn to speak.

The tournament continues with Kip Sabian vs Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara vs Darby Allin being the next group of matches for the tournament it could be an interesting step forward. I've become a fan of Sammy, Darby, and Kip since the start of AEW they've grown on me as talent I had never seen these three before AEW gave them a shot. It's a tournament like this that helps guys like Sammy, Darby and others the chance to prove themselves. At this point, I think that Kip is one of the few that still need to prove himself as Darby and Sammy are nearing the "you've proven yourself, but need to keep moving forward phase." I still think it's to early to tell who will take the win in the tournament, but after this week the tournament could take an interesting turn with Cody fighting either Sammy or Darby in the next second round and Dustin questioning retirement if he can't beat Kip. Though this type of booking might not be complicated it doesn't have to be cause the simple sometimes works the best in wrestling partially, because promotions go to the simple nowadays. A few weeks ago an announcement came down that AEW will be introducing a new championship called the TNT Championship. To make it clear Cody mentioned that it was Warner Media who asked AEW to introduce this title the way they did. In reality the TNT Championship is just the television title with a different name, but also calling it the TNT Championship makes it more unique. Going back to their first meeting at All Out I was one of the few who thought that Cody and Shawn would have a long feud based on the tension and intensity that existed between them heading into All Out, but it was one and done until now. As for Lance Archer and Jake Roberts, I for one have always thought that Jake's promo were hit or miss, but that he would've made a great manager. There's no doubting that Jake has fought it all in his life and came out the other side and that he has been ignored for the most part until now, but this is his chance to show what fans have been missing. Archer has proven himself in New Japan and still is continuing to prove himself outside of the tag team division. For years Archer had been one of the forgotten after his run in WWE it's like he fell off the map. Now after honing his craft in New Japan he's back to prove himself again in front of his home crowd and if his match last week against Marko showed anything it proved how dangerous he can be when he's unleashed. Let the Tournament Begin!!! |
