Omega has a Replacement8/30/2019 At last word we talked about how bad the timing was for Jon Moxley getting injured and not being able to compete at All Out this weekend. It was such bad timing for the MRSA infection to show up, but now they have found a replacement for Kenny Omega. In my opinion it doesn't change the fact that Jon Moxley will likely fight Kenny in the future to make up for this match not happening tomorrow. I thought if anything they would've held it off until the actual show, but with the Women's Battle Royal they don't really need more surprises. Honestly, I have forgotten that Pac was under contract with All Elite Wrestling after the controversy that surrounded his match at Double or Nothing. I for one am very happy to see that Pac is back again and in a match a lot of us didn't know we wanted to see until it was announced. Since his departure from WWE we haven't really seen Pac competing in the United States as he has been spending more time in Japan and United Kingdom which is fitting considering he had spent the last few years competing in the States with WWE. Either way with this addition to the show they have turned a negative into a very interesting positive and have set themselves up to have another marquee match for a stacked event.

Injury Updates8/27/2019
With the biggest event of AEW's short history only days away an injury is by far the worse thing that could happen to anyone involved in the event. Based on reports two names have come up let's kick off with the minor injury. One part of the first ever ladder match in AEW history Rey Fenix sustained an injury in a tag match a few days ago he actually had to be helped to the back and would weakly been seen walking around backstage. Luckily, Fenix only sustained a minor injury during the match as he competed two days ago in the ring so its expected the injury wasn't serious.
On the other hand though Jon Moxley wasn't so lucky as he shared in a tweet he has an infection in his elbow that has taken him out of All Out. As seen in the tweet below a serious case of MRSA has returned in his elbow causing him to miss the event. The expected recovery time for Mox is around four weeks which would allow him to return ahead of the AEW debut on TNT in October. Now this does bring up the question of what Omega will be doing on August 31 at this point. I will now point out that this could lead to this match taking place on the TNT debut episode of AEW. More than likely a surprise of some sort could now be in the cards due to the magnitude of the event. Either way it was terrible timing for this injury taking a part one of the bigger matches from the event, and now this brings up the questions of what is going to happen at All Out?

Road to All Out: It's Time to Double Up8/22/2019 Much like I have done in the past it is time to double up for the videos with the countdown to All Out nearing the single digits. The one thing I would point out is that we are now nine days away from the biggest PPV of the year for All Elite Wrestling. I love the throwback control center segment, because it has introduced us to the broadcast team of All Elite Wrestling and become more familiar with the team. Outside note is I am glad they are trying to change things up a bit for the Young Bucks and Lucha Brothers as they have worked in a variety of ways since Double or Nothing in May. Again they have chosen to add to the Cody vs Shawn Spears hype in a different and unique way with Brandi speaking on the impact of Spears attack on Cody and how Cody always gets back up. In my opinion, this was the best promo Brandi has ever done and better then a certain other powerful wrestling wife. Not hearing from Cody since the attack I think they need to keep it that way as it would even more to the feud. I have said it before and will again this feud has the makings to be the greatest feud in All Elite history. As for Hangman Page vs Chris Jericho for the AEW World Title, I've been impressed by how credible they have made Page out to be and even though he does seem like an underdog it doesn't seem impossible. I have been watching Page from his days as a youngster in Ring of Honor, and his early push as BJ Whitmer's alongside Roderick Strong, and Jimmy Jacobs as the group known as Decade. Either way Page has come along way since then and has earned this opportunity. August 31st, 2019 will be another historic night in the world of wrestling!!

Road to All Out: A Lot is Going On8/18/2019 To start with the build to Kenny Omega vs Jon Moxley has taken a turn for the interesting with a solid promo from Kenny Omega explaining how high the expectations were heading into Double or Nothing. Omega mentions that a lot of critics and fans thought he would be the chosen one and nobody really expected Jericho to win the match, but he did. Now Kenny has something to prove at All Out in one of the bigger matches for the show. Within The Elite the only unproven commodity is Hangman Page, but much like his fellow Elite members he has a ton of potential. The amount of passion and raw emotion that Page has shown in his recent promos is some of the best work he has ever done; and with all eyes on him it is his best chance to prove himself. The last part that needs attention is Cody and Shawn Spears feud being built to stick out and make sure it's something that people keep their eyes on. Thus far any question I've had about the booking of this feud it has been answered to a tee by AEW and my expectations just keep rising for this match.

Starting off I really like the Control Center as it is a great way to focus on one match or feud instead of jumping around and not allowing the hype to sink in. I know that some fans might be thinking that they don't need to do that, but when it comes to introducing new talent we need time to digest and remember the talent. Allowing each of the episodes to also have a different feel has also helped keeping the hype fresh for each of the events. For the first time an episode has focused just on the women of AEW which is a nice change of pace after them focusing on the Spears and Cody feud 2 out of the 3 episodes. Focusing on the women though has also allowed them to introduce new talent to the company namely the newest second generation wrestler. Seeing Teal Piper entering into the wrestling business is interesting, because I didn't even know she existed or was entertaining the idea of entering the business as I always thought her brother Colt would join wrestling. The fact is I think a battle royal is also a great way to cover for any talent that might be on the green side to hide their weaknesses a little better. To my knowledge this is also our first glances of Jazz and Ivelisse as a member of the All Elite roster. Overall coming up to All Out at the end of the month it seems like the card is coming together something and this is battle royal announcement is the easiest way to set up the division as we move to AEW on TNT. I also think that the importance of a battle royal has been downplayed in modern wrestling, because it is a perfect way to set up a variety of feuds for months at a time.

Road to All Out: Another New Episode8/2/2019 The momentum train continues to roll to the end of August in Chicago. I have said it before and will say it again All Out in Chicago will be the biggest event in AEW history thus far and they are proving that by trying to pull out all the stops. The match that not a lot of people are talking about is for the AEW World Title when Hangman Page fights Jericho and I think the idea of Page being unproven and just dropping the presure a little could be what they are doing or just trying something different. Either way though in my opinion, the build for Cody vs Shawn Spears again is unlike anything else in wrestling right now, because it seems real. Since reveling his reason for attacking Cody & showing his alignment with Tully Blanchard it seems like Spears has a new aura about him and he's oozing confidence. I am also still getting use to seeing Tully Blanchard again which is a plus as it make more fresh. As for the Cody side well we haven't heard from him and it doesn't seem like he wants anything to do with Spears until Chicago. The emotion that this feud has already is insane and I think this has the makings to become one of the greatest feuds in AEW history. |
