A Continued Push5/30/2020 On the most edition of Dynamite we were treated a battle royal where the winner would get a future title shot against Cody at a later date. Even though seeing MJF and Cody write another chapter of their unfinished rivalry it might be to soon to move back to that feud right now. I disagree that Wardlow and Luchasaurus even having the small fight they should've kept holding it off, but tossing Billy Gunn into the equation creates an interesting idea. At this point, only MJF has been able to breakthrough since Dynamite kicked off back in October so seeing AEW shift the focus to another youngster is a welcome sight. Next to MJF the only person that has shown breakthrough potential is Jack Perry. Perry has tremendous potential and has been having an amazing 2020 so far with his matches against MJF as a glimpse into the future for AEW's main event scene. At only 23 though Jungle Boy's got a very bright future ahead of him. In my opinion, giving Jungle Boy a match with Cody will just give him another chance to grow as a performer and stay on track to become the star we are seeing grow in front of us.

A Rare Sight5/27/2020 These two legends gave us a sight that I for one never thought I'd see, because Arn Anderson had been behind the camera with WWE since 2001 and Jake Roberts hadn't been on television consistently in wrestling since the 1990's. They might not have had free range and this might not have been the full segment it was definitely intense though. At their peak Anderson and Roberts were two of the best on the microphone and even though they might still be better then most stars of today they have lost a step. I don't think I'd pay to see Arn Anderson in the ring against Jake Roberts no matter how long it's been since Arn was able to wrestle. There is no real need for a match of any kind to take place between these two legends and they should just be sticking to things like this now cause that is the best way they can benefit AEW. In my opinion, trying to get anything more out of these legends would be overkill and unneeded for the company. I enjoyed the segment, because you can feel the tension and to a point you could think that Jake hates Anderson and Cody which is the point of this type of thing.

Road to Double or Nothing: 5/18/205/20/2020 It's a lot to take in in a small amount of time as AEW split the normal weekly hype video between building up Dynamite and the upcoming Double or Nothing event. One major takeaway from Dynamite is that two of the best around will come face to face in the ring for the first time in a very very long time when Arn Anderson and Jake Roberts come face to face. I honestly had no idea that Double or Nothing was taking place this weekend or at all for that matter. However, I'm extremely excited that MJF will be once again colliding with Jungle Boy as the two men tore down the house in February and I'm sure they will have the chance to do it once again. They should amazing chemistry and I am very happy that the match will have some build and they didn't just toss it on the show just, because of how good the match was two months ago. I still think there is money with Wardlow and Luchasaurus but that's down the road sometime. I don't know how I feel about Moxley vs The Dark Order due to Brodie debuting pretty recently and Moxley just finishing a feud with the Inner Circle where the numbers game was a center focus of the feud. Overall AEW rarely disappoints on go home shows even if the PPV doesn't always live up to expectations.

AEW Video Game Update5/11/2020 With the current issues that the WWE is suffering from with the last series being among one of the worst in the franchise. Someone chose to rush the game out to make sure that they would have a game arrive last year and it was a mistake. Though some might not agree there are a variety of reasons that WWE 2K20 will change the yearly installment mantra for WWE and will likely be the end of that franchise for now at least. It really was hit or miss every year since the start of the 2K brand and they never really took the shot to make it even better year to year.
Last year we heard about the idea that All Elite Wrestling would be pitching around the idea for a video game which is shocking knowing the amount of love that Kenny Omega and Young Bucks have for the video game industry. At this point not much is known about the game other than that it will be happening and will make use of the AKI game engine which is the same engine that was used for No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000 back in THQ years. Recently, Cody made it clear that the video game will take a lot of time to complete as they want to make the best game possible. In a quote taken from a sescoops.com article Cody mentions the game "He continued, “Game development is arduous, it’s a very creative space, and we want to do it right. We will keep people updated, it won’t come as a surprise, we want them to take the journey with us. Be extra patient so we can deliver.”" for the full article click here!

Road to Double or Nothing5/6/2020 I loved the start to this episode with QT showing the "ignorance" of non Star Wars fans by making a Star Trek mess up. Shida playing the piano was also a welcome addition to getting a little more depth for one of the many wrestlers that haven't been given the spotlight. This was the first time I bore witness to Dr. Luther and I really don't know anything about him, but I will say the same thing about him as I did about Jimmy Havoc's promo's we need highlights of this on Dynamite to really understand his background and his past. As far as TH2 or The Hybrid Two have been flying under the radar recently and this the first time I've heard Jack Evans speak. These two really do believe their gimmicks and they have embraced the heel turn for the team. It feels like they are telling a different story, but with the same idea that they did with MJF. I feel like if they shift the focus to the develop of an identity for QT Marshall and make him more than just a lackey for Cody and teammate of Dustin that would help him all the more in the long run. |
