For months we have heard from Cody that All Elite Wrestling was working on a new championship to go along with the AEW World Title. In that time it has lead to plenty of questions about the type of championship that AEW would introduce as Cody has often insisted it shouldn't be looked at as a "mid-card title." The fact is I've always been a massive of the television championship and feel like it became a piece of wrestling's past for no good reason. Now with the introduction of the TNT Championship we have the TV Title with a modern twist to it. I have been saying for months that one of my main criticisms of AEW was that they have a lot of guys that the fans have never met before and really don't push the "getting to know you aspect" for the unknown talent like they should. With the introduction of this title thought it will allow names like Darby Allen, Sammy Guevara, Jungle Boy, MJF, and various others to have the spotlight some weeks and continue their respective developments on a more consistent basis. I've been saying that AEW should hype AEW Dark more on the show especially if it's already taped before Dynamite, because then you can show highlights on the Wednesday show. All we know at this point is that part of the bracket for the upcoming tournament will be announced later tonight on AEW Dark and then the rest of the bracket will be announced tomorrow on Dynamite. I for one have always been a major fan of tournaments, because they're intriguing and in the bigger picture could lead an interesting feud or two down the road depending on how the tournament goes. Either way AEW continue to keep fans guessing in the best ways possible.

At this point I've been watching Jake Hager's career for over a decade. I remember his debut in 2008 on the ECW brand, and the immediate push he would receive. Unfortunately, there was a ceiling for the former Jack Swagger in WWE and every time he got close to his potential it seemed like he hit the ceiling first. It didn't matter if it was his World Title win in 2010 or his time with Zeb Coulter in the Real Americans there is one thing WWE couldn't seem to forget and that is Jack wasn't the best on the microphone, and in WWE that's something everyone needs if they're to become a star. In my opinion, the former Jack Swagger could've done better if he was actually given the chance to do better and not just expected to automatically hit his stride without much of any direction. This is one of the reasons it has been so refreshing to see him in AEW, because it finally seems like he has hit his stride. The amount of aggression and fluidity that Hager is showing in his new role is leaps and bounds ahead of where he was in WWE. His believable role within the Inner Circle has provided him an opportunity I feel like he never got in WWE and that's one to be a credible and believable top star, because they put his negatives aside and focus on the positives which is what your suppose to do. I've missed this version of the "Broken One," because even though WWE allowed Matt to carry the gimmick with him from Impact Wrestling it was never the same. Matt never was able to creatively satisfy the brilliance that he posses and it is clear the exact reason he wanted to leave WWE. In less than a month Matt Hardy has shown exactly what the phrase greener pastures exactly means. The reinvention of the "broken universe" will be a sight we are witness to every week on Dynamite. Overall it is crazy to me that Vince McMahon didn't recognize the gift that he was given having Matt Hardy under contract for the last three years. It is crazy to think where Bray Wyatt would've been had Matt been able to do what he pitched and it is crazy to think about all the possibilities that are now on the table with Matt or Damacus in All Elite Wrestling. First on the list is Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle and when the vessels collide it will be WONDERFUL!!!
Even though plans have changed the goal remains the same for All Elite Wrestling. For months we have heard the rumors and predictions for the "Exalted One" and last week we finally got our answer. The Dark Order finally has their and Brodie Lee will be featured in a prominent role for the first time on National television given the opportunity that Vince McMahon was to afraid to afford him. The fact that they came out of left field with this debut helped regain some forgotten interest in the identity of the "Exalted One" and it was enough help me wonder the answer to my next question, which what happens next? Speaking of questions it wasn't really a matter of if it was more a matter of when Matt Hardy was going to appear in All Elite Wrestling. Once his contract with WWE expired we knew it was a matter of time and last week we got our answer. For months we have seen the slow rebirth of "Broken" Matt Hardy and his "Broken Universe." The real question is how will Matt Hardy fit into the dynamic of All Elite Wrestling and where this leaves Jon Moxley. The main thing is that with Blood and Guts postponed there is more time to allow Matt to find his place and establish this new rivalry instead of rushing into it. Next week is set to be a major event for All Elite Wrestling with The Elite and Inner Circle in the Blood and Guts match. This week will be the six man tag match to decide who will have the advantage during the Blood and Guts match on March 25. Jericho and Cody have been in matches similar to this, but neither man has been in this type of match in their long careers. I'm still unsure about Orange Cassidy as it is to soon to really have a decision made on him in my book. For once it is nice to see some character development within the women's division for AEW, because if Britt Baker has shown anything it's that if given the chance a talent can break through. Now after a few weeks of interviews and development it seems like Baker is finally ready for a feud with another person ready to break through in Big Swole. The segment with the Librarian is the most development Peter Avalon and Leva Bates have had since AEW got going. Thus far they really haven't shown much charisma or develop much interest in their characters until now. This is one of the main reasons that I again think that AEW should be showing parts of their YouTube series on weekly programming even if its a taste as a way to expose new talent on the program. Either way it seems like we will be in for a surprise this week on Dynamite!! It's the first episode of Dynamite after Revolution and they really pulled out all the stops with solid episode from All Elite Wrestling. I didn't see the episode but you can imagine my surprise when I saw Jake Roberts name in the title of a video on AEW's channel. Ever since Jake has gotten clean thanks to Dallas Page, I've thought that a company could bring Jake in as a way to help mentor the future of wrestling, but prior to this episode of Dynamite nobody had given Jake a shot to make amends for his past. Seeing all the comments praising Jake for his skills withe microphone put on display exactly what we have been missing for years from one of the best ever. Roberts has an aura about him and his rough voice makes him sound unlike anyone else ever in wrestling. They have my attention, because I really have no idea where this feud is going to go, but the starting point is interesting enough to have my attention. I hope this is evidence that All Elite Wrestling will not be afraid to make use of legends as managers which has become generally a lost art in wrestling for no good reason other than Vince McMahon not liking managers, even though managers can help sell tickets and get talent over. Think about this where would Brock Lesnar be without Paul Heyman as his hype man. Cesar your dealer has arrived let's see what happens when the ides of March have arrived. This week will be something of a rarity for AEW as it is the first episode of Dynamite after a PPV and it promises to be an interesting episode of the weekly program. The post AEW Revolution edition of Dynamite will bring us to Denver, CO. With Jon Moxley on top of the mountain where do we go from here and what do the Inner Circle do without the World Championship, how dangerous will they be at this point. Again I'm enjoying the Jimmy Havoc segments, but they really need to do something to push these segments on television, because not everyone is aware of the YouTube series. As always I will try to avoid the spoilers or to many of them to allow you to see everything for yourself and if you missed Revolution this video is all you need to see to know what happened last Saturday. With such a large gap now between this PPV and the next PPV offering from AEW it will be interesting to see the direction that AEW goes from here with likely some feuds coming to a close or halting for now after Revolution. For that though we will have to tune into this week's edition of AEW Dynamite on TNT. |
