There was a time when Cody Rhodes and Kurt Angle were two of the most promising names in the WWE but only one of them achieved their full potential and the other is still a question mark. But that other one is still under 30 and has a lot more to give pro-wrestling then what we saw in the WWE. At this point Kurt Angle is an 11 or 12 time World Champion combined between NJPW to WWE to TNA he has mounted quite the resume for himself. Also not only is he a current member of the TNA Hall of Fame but will no doubt be a member of the WWE Hall of Fame when he calls it a career. Cody on the other hand is only a former Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion in the WWE but their was more then one occasion when Cody could've become World Champion. Remember this is the same guy that was talented enough to get over facial hair. When Cody left the WWE he posted a list of talent that he wanted to face now that he was a free man and one of the names on the list was the legend himself Kurt Angle. A match that may have been possible in the WWE is now happening on Saturday, August 27 at the Northeast Wrestling Event at Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls, NY. For more information visit This match is going to be awesome and a must see for anyone near Wappingers Falls, NY on Saturday, August 27. Doors Open at 7pm EST!!!! On that same show it was also be Jushin Liger vs Jeff Hardy for the first time ever which also be another great match for what is set to be a fantastic show.

Paul Heyman's Contact Expired7/27/2016 For the last three years pretty much the "Beast Incarnate" has been a package deal with the evil genius himself Mr. Paul Heyman. Though Brock is still under contract for at least another WrestleMania, Paul wasn't on the same deal and may not come along for the ride. At this point in time Mr. Heyman is once again a free agent as his contract with the WWE expired back in May of this year and now there are doubt to if Paul will be back in the WWE.
As most of the wrestling world knows at this point recently Paul was overseas in the UK for his own man show where he called out both Marty Scrull and Will Osprey. Two men that have helped get wrestling in the UK a lot of attention, but the interesting thing was Paul was their not just for his show but for business as well, but I'll get to that. Right now his tours and a possible reality show are two of the main reasons why Mr. Heyman may not be calling WWE home on a full time or part time basis anytime soon. Basically, Heyman wants the freedom to control his activities outside the WWE and WWE wants his schedule open in case they need him. However, at last word it does as though that Paul will likely be with Brock in 3 weeks time on the WWE Network when The Beast faces The Viper at Summerslam. Other than that as far as Paul is concerned we will have to wait and see unfortunately for us. I will say that in my book Paul's run this time around was just as good or even better than his run the first time around even though his first run may have been longer.

PPV Predictions: WWE Battleground 20167/24/2016 WWE Battleground
Kickoff Show: Breezeango vs The Uso's Considering this match was announced in the last few days I don't seeing being anything more than just a way to get these two teams on the show in some form even if it is the pre-show. I will say that I really do think that WWE brass like Brezze & Fandango as a team which is a good thing for both these men. As far as tag teams I think that at this point The Uso's are somewhat bullet proof and are pretty capable of taking a loss especially if it means helping another team gain something. Breezeango wins. Beck Lynch vs Natalya Last month it was Sheamus vs Apollo Crews that was the ify match that everyone was unsure about and though the interest level may be higher for this match tonight it still in my book needs to show how different they are and why we should care. As far as the overall prospect of the feud I really have enjoyed as let me ask you when was the last time the WWE had a women's feud that didn't involve the title. As far as things go I'm not sure who needs the win but I will go with Becky just to give her something if I have to pick. WWE United States Championship Match: (c) Rusev w/ Lana vs Zack Ryder Hmm what is wrong with this picture? I know a lot of fans still love the "Long Island Iced Z" but it is hard to forget that he lost twice in one week to The Miz and then basically went off TV until he beat Sheamus on Smackdown a few weeks ago which some how netted him to deserving enough to face Rusev for the title. My interest level for this match is low and therefore this match doesn't really matter to me. But I will say I see Rusev's temper to get the better of him allowing Ryder to win and gain another shot at the gold in a few weeks at Summerslam to keep the feud going and let Ryder become credible and more deserving of the gold. Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs Sasha Banks & ??? This is a great wrestling wonder as surprises always attract a crowd and make the interest grow to the peak of possibilities. I mean I have heard everyone from Nia Jax to Trish Stratus as possible partners for Sasha tonight and it is with reason to believe those possibilities. However, remember we have thought Finn Balor would debut for how long? I can honestly say I am stumped as to who Sasha's partner is especially after Mick Foley coming on as Raw's GM so I am just going to wait and see. Though I don't see it being Bayley I still do believe that Sasha and Unknown will win. New Day vs Wyatt Family After the travesty that was the fight at the Wyatt Family compound.... no matter what WWE tries to tell you. The idea that we are suppose to take that low budget horror film as something serious is a joke and darn insulting to the viewer. I will keep this one short considering they split the Wyatt Family in the Draft I don't see a reason why the New Day would not win this match so that's why they will win the match and pretty much effectively end the feud with the Wyatt's. WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: (c) The Miz w/ Maryse vs Darren Young w/ Bob Backlund Well the match that nobody has been waiting for and I for one love Bob Backlund, but I think it's more likely they put back together the Prime Time Players then if they would actually let Darren beat Miz. Miz has been one of the best IC champions in recent memory as has been one of the best heels WWE has since the start of 2016 and the idea that he should lose tonight is Ludacris. Miz wins clean and may put an end to Making Darren Young Great! John Cena, Enzo, & Big Cass vs The Club I'm going to keep this short, because much like the Wyatt Family were split up in the WWE Draft so was The Club. Which my book would lead me to question the idea of why The Club deserves the victory tonight if they will not be a stable anymore after tonight. It is a 50/50 possibility that Finn Balor will make his debut tonight and in some way help keep The Club together but I will count on the side of him not being their over him actually showing up. Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn Anyone who followed their careers before the WWE know that these two have been feuding with the public eye since 2009 when Kevin turned his back on Sami at Final Battle by beating him with a chair. But shh nobody is suppose no that. I only bring that up to give perspective on how long it has been that Kevin has been feuding in some form with Sami Zayn. These two broke in together in IWS up in Canada, and the only mistake I think WWE made last Tuesday was by not putting both Kevin and Sami on different shows to effectively end the feud between these two rivals for good. This one is easy though because Kevin won last so that means Sami needs the win here tonight and that' how it will go. WWE World Championship: (c) Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins Quote whatever dirt sheet you want and effectively keep your opinion of Roman to yourself because I have heard enough of it about how bad or good Roman is. The point is in some case it doesn't matter who we want or don't want it is up to WWE brass to decide and that why Roman won the belt in the first place. Then again the idea that Roman could become a 4 time champion in less than a 1 year makes me sick to my stomach. Let me second what I said it is not that Roman makes me sick it's how he is booked that makes me sick and also the idea that he has been gone for 30 days and not a part of the build up for this match at all pretty much yet he is getting the shot. What type of message does it send that someone could fail a test but still get a World Title shot even though they are returning on the night of the show, what a joke!! I am under the impression that this match will not have a decisive winner and that it will lead to the introduction of another World Title for the company and the title will go to either Raw or Smackdown depending on who wins the match tonight. If Roman wins nobody will be happy, but then again what type of message does that send to talent and the fans that someone could be suspended 30 days and then come back and become World Champion. Dean wins as he is the only one to gain anything with a win tonight.

Tyson Kidd Update7/21/2016 One year the tag team wrestling world was on fire with some new faces like the New Day and the former champions Tyson Kidd and Cesaro. It was around a year ago that in a pre-show match against the current NXT World Champion Samoa Joe; he was one half of one of the hottest tag teams in the company at the time in Tyson Kidd. Sadly around the time that Kidd got injured both Cesaro and Kidd finally began to hit their stride in the company after years of struggling especially for Tyson Kidd.
Now after around a year on the shelf their seems to be some doubt that Kidd will be making his return to the company after all. Go back to 2013-2014 before Kidd and Cesaro both got their big breaks as a team and really helped boot the division that was struggling at the time. Not too long prior to the kicking off his team with Cesaro he made his return from another career threating injury having to do with his knees. A recent report disclosed that though Tyson could be ready to make his way back to the ring before the end of the year it maybe a case like we saw earlier in the year with Daniel Bryan. As of this writing it is very possible that even though he maybe healed Tyson may never be medically cleared by WWE Doctors to return to the ring and though it might be tough to swallow it might be in his best interest to follow. I will say that I hope Tyson Kidd does may his return to the company as not would be a great story, but it would be much deserved for someone who really does love this business and being in the ring every night.

Big Show Challenges Shaq at the ESPY's7/19/2016 Even though one week ago the talk of the WWE seemed to be either about the draft or the fact that John Cena will be hosting the ESPY awards. Last Wednesday, I will be honest that the sports world had their eyes on the talent that we've had the pleasure to be around for the last 15 years and that man is John Cena. I am aware that most people hate Cena either because he never went back his old ruthless aggression gimmick or the fact that he is stale and has been for the last 5 years. Also prior to the festivities on the night we saw the first meeting on the red carpet between Big Show and Shaq since the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. This time was almost as eventful as the last time, because since the interaction between the two giants the world has been wondering if we will be seeing Shaq step into the ring against Big Show at WrestleMania 33 next year.

WWE Draft Hype7/17/2016 Back in December of 2013 at WWE TLC we saw the second unification match involving the World Title in the WWE. The first unification match was of course in the fall of 2001 at WWF Vengeance when Chris Jericho was crowned the first ever WWF Undisputed Champion by beating The Rock & Steve Austin in the same night. Fast forward to TLC 2013 and you have a TLC Match between WWE Champion Randy Orton and WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena. Even though this unification match wasn't very hyped this time around it still was something very different at the time and did it's job, because then we lead to one of the best feud in recent memory between Daniel Bryan and The Authority. A few months ago it was announced that the Brand Split will be returning on July 19 and if that wasn't enough it will also be the first edition of Smackdown Live. After 17 years of being taped and actually moving back and forth at the end of the week it will now be going Live this coming Tuesday night. With Draft right around the corner I felt it was necessary to look back at some other great moments and past drafts:

WWE DVD Update 27/13/2016 A few months ago I gave you all an update on some possible WWE DVD's we could be seeing make there way to store shelves over the next year or so. But those titles that I mentioned in the first post weren't the only possibilities as there were a lot more, but I will just chose two that I am going to talk about right now: Kurt Angle DVD: Though at this point it is basically confirmed that at some point over the next year that Kurt Angle will be returning to the WWE for more run with the company this basically confirms it even more. Since the WWE started making DVD's over 15 years ago they had never made a positive DVD about someone who didn't work for them or had been on positive terms with them before and Kurt is no different. Due to this reason I do believe it is definite that Kurt will be returning to the company in some form.
Sid Vicious DVD: You may have noticed the weekly tweets from Sid every Monday night during Raw. However, even though during his wrestling career Sid had been a multiple time World Champion he never really received any respect or recognition for his accomplishments like he should've. With this being said I think giving him a DVD maybe a bad idea unless you make it a collection with other names like a Best Big Men DVD or something, because I don't know that Sid still has drawing power or name recognition to make sales happen. No offense to Sid it's just that he had been out of the limelight for so long that I don't know how many modern fans know him.

Randy Orton Update7/11/2016 At this point it is common knowledge that the WWE is giving us a big match at Summerslam this year and it will involve the return of a veteran who has been gone for a very long time. The injury bug has been very rough for the WWE over the last couple of years. Though the rough side of the injuries may have hit the Tag division the toughest as it took out the depth in the division that had grown. But to think that Randy Orton has missed more time over the last two years than he has been on TV.
Even though the "Viper" had been a fixture of the WWE TV for the last decade, but I guess the best way to describe it is that the miles he has put on his body over the years and his age is finally catching up with him. As of this writing it has been said that Randy will be back at the Performance Center at some point this month to work out the ring rust and make sure that he's good to comeback to the ring again. I will be totally honest that not only did I do this match first, but I do believe that as long as Randy is 100% then he and Brock will have one of the better matches that Brock has had in a while in my book. I am very excited for this match as this could be Randy's return to the ring. I do think that the WWE may have painted themselves in a corner with Brock winning his fight at UFC 200 as now it wouldn't be best for business if Brock was to come up short against Randy at Summerslam.

Ryback Contract Update7/9/2016 So far 2016 has been pretty much unlike any year we have seen in quite a long time, because it has been quite a long time since the WWE had done roster maintenance and the spring cleaning. So far we have seen a variety of names walk away from the company or have gotten let go this year. In some cases I was surprised by names like Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow being included in "spring cleaning."
Even in pro-wrestling someone can only take so much negativity and lack of opportunity before they finally give up and ask to be released from their contract. With that out of the way now it is time to speak about the next talent to walk away from the WWE. Over the course of the last 6 months there has been seemingly a ton of problems between the WWE and Ryback. At one time many people believed that Ryan Reeves would be the next top star in the WWE and a future World Champion in the company. However, due to the unfortunate circumstances Ryback never reached his potential in the WWE and the lackluster Intercontinental title reign from last year was hurt due to his injury and his booking lacking to where they never had plans for him in the long term. In his later work you could really see that Ryback had talent and untapped potential, but all he really needed was the right opponent like Cesaro, Sheamus, Cody Rhodes or stick him with a veteran. The reason why you could stick him with a veteran well think about if you give a brawler like Ryback and you stick him with a guy like Goldust that would only help him know how to work through a match. As of this writing it is pretty clear to say that I don't think Ryback will ever be reappearing on a WWE program as I do believe his contract is expiring very soon and will not be getting it renewed or re-signing with the company after a very long stay with the company. If booked right I do think Ryback has some untapped potential like a few other names that left the company in recent years as well. Right now the only real thing we can do is sit here and wait to see what is going to happen, but I will say that Ryback will not be back in the WWE.

Brand Split Update 27/8/2016 At this point it is likely common knowledge among most wrestling fans that the WWE has changed the name of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship back to the WWE Championship. This is pretty much confirming my worry that a second World title will be returning to the company following the return of the brand split in two weeks on July 19th. Let me explain a little about why I hate the idea of two World titles, because if we are to believe that both titles are suppose to be the top prize for each brand that fine, but then both titles should be booked as World titles and not have one be looked at as the obvious B-Level title. As then it could negatively effect the other titles and bump down the work that WWE has done to help each title they have mean more.
As far as the other titles the WWE have active right now the United States and Intercontinental will each go on one brand and become exclusive, but the Tag Team and Women's will likely be on both brands. I will make two points about the Women's title the first is if they didn't just retire the Divas title at WrestleMania a case could be made to bring the title back. However, that is exactly what happened and bringing the belt back after such a short time on the shelf wouldn't do anyone any good. The other point is that back around the time of the first brand split the Undisputed Champion was on both brands and who ever won the title would lose there spot on a brand and the former champion would take it. For example if someone from Raw were to beat the Women's champion then the former champion would go to Raw and the new champion would be on both brands. Since I am here and this will likely be our last update prior to July 19th I figured giving the last bit of draft news would be a good idea. For this news though you have to look back a few weeks because this has to do with NXT and the number of developmental stars that will be getting the call-up. Originally the number was 6-8 names would be getting called up to the Main roster for the draft, but now the number has jumped to 10-12 names will be getting the call to the big show. This is awesome as some names that you never thought you'd see in the WWE will be making their way to Raw or Smackdown following July 19th. Looking at this another way though this will likely leave a huge whole down on the NXT roster for not just big names but names in general, remember NXT is still the WWE Developmental. |
