Hall of Fames Matter: Part 210/28/2017 Though most people say that the WWE Hall of Fame doesn't matter either due to the inclusion of celebrities, the exclusion of deserving talent or the lack of a physical building. One thing doesn't change and that is the honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame still exists, and the change to be in the limelight one more time is something that some of these men haven't had the chance to do in decades. Also like I mentioned in part 1 it allows names like the Freebirds & Bruno Sammartino to be known by modern fans and gives them the chance to put a name with the face.
Fact is there is a reason I chose to make a Hall of Fame for the site to commemorate the two year anniversary. The reason is because I wanted to find a way to honor the past and keep history a live even in a minor way. That is also the reason I chose to construct my Hall of Fame the way I did including talent from all the era as opposed to just giving modern names their moment in the sun. Even though some talent are missing from the WWE Hall of Fame that shouldn't discredit the honor of being inducted because much like the MLB or NBA Hall of Fame there are people missing from the hallowed halls. However, that doesn't change how honorable and important it is to get that call and having someone tell your going into the Hall of Fame. Overall I don't think it matters who is already in I think it matter more when you get in this way you'll know what your legacy will be and how important your career was to your profession. Don't get me wrong there are a number of deserving names missing from the wrestling's hallowed halls but that in my book doesn't dilute the honor it more offers a placeholder for them when they are ready to join.

This Day in Wrestling History: 10/26/1710/26/2017 As always wrestling gives us both great memories and memories we try and forget, but with the amount of moments worth remembering that have happened we are bound to forget some. The same could be said about some talent that were very much underrated during their career or never at the top of a company during a run this unfortunately makes it easier for fans to forget certain talent. I would like to wish a very big Happy Birthday to all who are celebrating their special day today and especially to the one featured below.
Happy Birthday to CM Punk who turns 39 years old

I would like to wish a very big Happy Birthday to all who are celebrating their special day today and especially to the one featured below. The selection puts on display the future of wrestling and one of the greatest tag teams in history. Over the last few months Toni Storm has put herself on the map and has been one of the many to really use the Mae Young Classic to her advantage as she dazzled audiences on the large scale & now has everyone's attention. Toni is only now turning 23 years old which is insane to me given how extremely talented she is in the ring. I am very excited to she what the future holds for this young lady as she is the future of wrestling. Now what can I say about the Road Warriors other than they are on the greatest & most dominate tag teams in history. They are the embodiment of two talents that were made to be in a team but then could've made it on there own at least one of them could've. From the stories I've heard and the interviews I've listened to Hawk was a very talented performer who never got the chance to show how good he is or could be. Happy birthday to those who are celebrating today but also let us always shine the spotlight on those who are no longer with us.

Why Hall of Fames Matter Part 110/15/2017 Anyone who has been a fan of the website since the start know that I love the history of wrestling and have always tried to put the history of this great sport on a pedestal. For those who may not know why that is because history is forgotten about not spoken of or given a chance in the spotlight. But much like other sports wrestling has there way of maintaining history and protecting history for years to come. The way that wrestling companies and just the brand in general has done that is with a wrestling hall of fame.
Now everyone who has watched the WWE at least once on the "Road to Wrestlemania" is aware of the WWE Hall of Fame as they have had a new class every year since 2004. However, most fans probably aren't aware of the Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame which is located in Wichita Falls, TX. Much like the WWE the Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame has a class every year and this years class included the likes of Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, Sputnik Monroe, Tatsumi Fujinami, and others who were very deserving of the honor. They also allow you to click on listed pictures of the inductees to find a career retrospective for you to find exactly why certain people belong in the Hall of Fame. Even though over the years the WWE has made some stupid choices for inductions and may have inducted some people ahead of others the one point still remains that at least they have a Hall of Fame. This way the WWE can shine the light on the names of yesteryear and allow fans of today to find out who the Fabulous Freebirds were or a forgotten name from the "Era of Attitude." The concept of a Hall of Fame does a lot of good for the company and also gives the legends of the past one more chance to be the center of attention on a major stage. Check out a link to the Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame website below to see who they've inducted into their hallowed halls over the years. http://www.pwhf.org

On this day last year the WWE held the first No Mercy event since back in 2008 with the brand split. The reason for the title is that looking at the card you could see that things have really changed in the last year and not just based on the names. Looking at the card and seeing American Alpha still together and Jack Swagger still with the company are just two ways that the company has changed. But the biggest way is seen in the Intercontinental championship match with Dolph & The Miz. Honestly, I don't know what it is but since Maryse returned Miz has been in the prime of his career and has done more for the IC Title then anyone could've expected. Thinking back to last year when Dean & Dolph feuded for the WWE title it was interesting and different but was really lacking. However, when the feud between Dolph & Miz started things really started heating up and even though the ending was flat the feud proved they could make Dolph interesting. But since then the booking of Dolph Ziggler has been a crime because it's almost like someone doesn't care anymore or has heat or something because he has been booked as a joke. I still believe that Dolph could be an asset to the company, but that at this point he needs time off to reassemble his career and really think if he belongs in WWE. I don't think that will happen which is unfortunate because Dolph still has potential and is really missing the boat. No Mercy 2016

During the course of the research on the sale of WCW I was lucky to find some interesting information about subjects other than WCW. Back in the day Rupert Murdoch like I mentioned had a very tense business rivalry with WCW owner Ted Turner. This is part 2 of the archived story using information found in doing research about the possibility of Rupert Murdoch opening a competing wrestling company in the 2000-2001 time period.
But either way the idea of Rupert and a powerhouse like Fox entering the wrestling business at such vital time in the wrestling business like late 1999 to early 2000. At that time the WCW was heading south and it is very likely that certain top names may have jump ship to the company and it basically would’ve slid the war from Turner/WWF to the war being WWF vs. Fox/News Corporation. Now not much is known about this prospective company, but very few Fox affiliated projects have failed due to the business practices and overall successful methodology of upper management in Fox Broadcasting and News Corp. With this being the case if Rupert and those apart of Fox would’ve invested 100% into the wrestling company then I firmly believe that the company would have succeed and posed a new threat to the WWF. Though this “company” didn’t come to be it is interesting to think about what could have been. |
