Year End Awards Announcement11/27/2016 The year is wrapping up quite nicely and it is approaching that time of year when we look back at the past year and award those had the best year out of all of there counterparts. This time last year I was setting up for the start of awards season in wrestling and it was a variety of awards that I would give out but the difference with this year is that I have cut out a lot of the awards. Wrestler of the Year: - Matt Hardy - Kevin Owens - AJ Styles - Jay Lethal - Adam Cole - John Cena - Charlotte - Shinsuke Nakamura - Lashley Tag Team of the Year:
- Rhyno and Heath - Young Bucks - Bad Influence - New Day - Briscoe Brothers Match of the Year: Sasha Banks vs Charlotte (Raw Main Event or HIAC) Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles Final Deletion 1 Ladder Wars 6 Most Improved Company: WWE ROH Lucha Underground NJPW Other Voting begins on Monday for the Match of the year and will likely go through the third week of December or so as we once again determine the awards for this year. Though I have only cut things down to having only three awards it is still time for awards season. So keep an eye on Twitter for the voting to open this Monday and go through Wednesday or Thursday for Match of the Year. More awards can still be added:

I am Thankful For....11/24/2016 As the year continues and we look to the end of another year it's that one time of year that we all look at our lives and determine what exactly we are thankful in our lives. This thought process is exactly why I am doing this post because I feel like sharing what exactly I am thankful for. Though this post will be covering what exactly I am thankful in my personal life and more just on a "professional" basis.
So as you all know in the early part of this year the site moved from the current location to a different site and slowly but surely my passion began to disappear and I began to become less interested in the site almost to the point of not wanting to do this anymore and I was very close to discontinuing the site completely and going off the radar for a few months. But mentally I achieved clarity and realized that I didn't need to walk away from this I just need to go home and this site is home. Once I moved back things start to become more clear and you guys helped that process tremendously because within the first week of my return we hit over 1,000 views over 5 different times in about a 3 week process and for that I am very grateful for that. Looking forward you guys have made it very easy to love what I do and not just because of you reading my stuff but also the ability to interact with you on the various forms of social media. This may not be a job just yet for me but it is still the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life and on this Thanksgiving it is definitely something worth being very thankful to have.

Wrestling Union11/19/2016 In recent years the idea for pro-wrestlers to unionize has really been somewhat of a big discussion among both fans and even some former wrestlers. But in the wrestling business the wrestlers are very individualistic. For example, when a wrestler moves higher up the card (for instance from the mid-card to the main event), he replaces the wrestler who once had that spot. Thus there is very fierce competition between the wrestlers. That hasn’t stop certain wrestlers from trying to unionize, but most of the time a wrestler who hopes to move up the card or maintain his/her position in the card.
The following was taken from an interview with Bryan Alvarez back in 2006 “You could never get the wrestlers together to form a union. There would always be someone willing to stooge whoever is arranging it off to management in order to win himself a better spot in the card.” For example, when Jesse Ventura was with the WWE during the late 1980’s he attempted to unionize the wrestlers, but was actually ratted out by Hulk Hogan to Vince McMahon to protect his spot with the company.” (Email from Dave Meltzer 2006). But that was the last we heard of this especially as far as the WWE goes and not until recently have we heard talk about it again, but that talk has seemingly went away. Though most people are either on one side or the other and very few are in the middle ground for this subject manner. I for one don’t support the idea of unionization, because though I feel it would help the wrestlers, but I think it would do more harm than good to the industry overall. Also if “Solidarity is key among the wrestlers for unionization to work or exploitation will continue.” I will say that in a way my opinion on this subject really only matters just a little bit as the above quote carries most of the weight. Wrestling with Technology11/15/2016 I have been sitting here for about an hour just thinking about what exactly would be the best to do this post and I think I came up with something. See I always pride myself on being able to compare wrestling or find commonalities between Wrestling and other professions pretty easily. But you maybe asking yourself how does technology actually relate to the wild mixed up world of professional wrestling. Well that's what this post about isn't it.
As of this writing it's pretty clear to say how much of an effect that technology has had on the pro-wrestling business over the years. With the introduction of Internet PPV and just live streaming in general the fan have been brought both closer to the action and are at the point where they don't even have to leave the house to support their favorite Indy companies. This is great for fans of a company like PWG whose PPV events sell out in like 4-6 minutes every show and it normally happens right way they go on sale. Well the benefit of technology is that their is no seat limit. Without the ability to live stream online for certain companies it would be disaster. As it would mess up some companies entire business which revolves around the this one idea. For that reason it is better to have a multi-faceted business model thus giving you the ability to not put all your eggs in one basket. Because technology is ever involving sort of like the wrestling business and allowing your company to focus on just one financial gain concept isn't the best way to make money. In actuality it might be one of the worst ways to make to run a business because much like those promoters in the territory era that thought things would just go back to normal and refused to changed well their is a reason why they sold to Vince first. Technology is always evolving and you need to evolve with it or be left in the dust.

The Rock's Newest Project11/8/2016 As of a couple of weeks ago it seems as though Fox has secured the rights to a new TV show developed by The Rock. The series would provide a behind the scenes glimpse at a fictional wrestling group, filled with over the top cast of characters whose antics outside of the ring are often crazier and more outlandish than the performances in the ring. Former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz is on board as an executive producer to help in grasping the material.
As of this writing the stories are set revolve around two main characters. The first is a young wrestlers whose charisma and athleticism are enough to push him to stardom early in his career. The second is an excruciatingly awkward former sitcom writer who enters the world of wrestling for a fresh career start. The writer is completely out of place in the middle of a group of larger than life alpha males, and he'll need a lot of help if he wants to stay in the game. The young wrestler is obviously based on Dwayne's early days as The Rock and Rocky Maivia before that. With Brian and Rocky backing the project that should really help the show in coming up with interesting and compelling plot points for the series. The episodes for the series would be one hour each week and hopefully this means we can see Rock entertain once again on camera each week in the role he was born to be. At this point not much is known about the show as it doesn't have a title as of yet but what we do know is that Will Ferrell will likely be apart of the project as well which will only help the comedy aspect of the show.

Invasion Hype 4: Survivor Series 200111/5/2016 Over the last couple of weeks we have been building to the start of the next Let's Play series and the return of the How I Would Book series. I have been building up the new series where I show how I would book the biggest missed opportunity in the WWE that being the Invasion of WWE by WCW and ECW in 2001. I have been holding this off for a long time but the time is almost upon us. The plans are in place and the table is set the time for the Invasion is almost here. But before we get there we have to take one more look back at the original Invasion and how that one ended in November 2001: |
