The Rock's Newest Project11/8/2016 As of a couple of weeks ago it seems as though Fox has secured the rights to a new TV show developed by The Rock. The series would provide a behind the scenes glimpse at a fictional wrestling group, filled with over the top cast of characters whose antics outside of the ring are often crazier and more outlandish than the performances in the ring. Former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz is on board as an executive producer to help in grasping the material.
As of this writing the stories are set revolve around two main characters. The first is a young wrestlers whose charisma and athleticism are enough to push him to stardom early in his career. The second is an excruciatingly awkward former sitcom writer who enters the world of wrestling for a fresh career start. The writer is completely out of place in the middle of a group of larger than life alpha males, and he'll need a lot of help if he wants to stay in the game. The young wrestler is obviously based on Dwayne's early days as The Rock and Rocky Maivia before that. With Brian and Rocky backing the project that should really help the show in coming up with interesting and compelling plot points for the series. The episodes for the series would be one hour each week and hopefully this means we can see Rock entertain once again on camera each week in the role he was born to be. At this point not much is known about the show as it doesn't have a title as of yet but what we do know is that Will Ferrell will likely be apart of the project as well which will only help the comedy aspect of the show.
