Expectations for October and Wrestling

10/3/2019

For the first time this year I have tapped into my followers to see what they can expect from the biggest in modern wrestling history. In my opinion, with the introduction of All Elite Wrestling Dynamite, the move for Smackdown from USA Network to Fox, Impact goes to AXS TV, and Studio wrestling returns to Atlanta with the NWA. A lot is going on this month in world of pro-wrestling and we will talk about it all, but first we let's find out what will keep these followers watching and what their expectations are for the future:

KFab Wrestling Chronicles: Well I like the fox deal that they have for smackdown and I like the fact that fox wants more of a sports presentation/feel to it. I would say the 1st step to improving would be to stop relying on the old guard and legends to help boost ratings. It prevents/hinders current talent for maximizing their potential and gaining more tv/mic time. I have never had interest in seeing 50+yr olds still wrestle. If u wanna have a royal rumble spot here & there like ddp or hacksaw fine but I can't get into taker, goldberg, kane etc anymore, they gotta go, they've been around too long and it's becoming a bit selfish. Vince or Whoever's in his ear needs to stop thinking about making a quick buck now and start thinking long term like they use to back in the day

2ndRowWrestling: For me, I’ve been watching straight since 1985. I made it through the early 90s and if anyone can get through that cartoonish era and keep watching- you’ll watch whatever they throw at you. It helps when the wrestling and storylines are actually watchable and coherent. But I’m a fan for life. I will def have Miller get back to you. Thanks for asking! -Joost

TTR Wrestling: As you say, big things are coming this October and it's a much-needed boost for the sport as pro-wrestling in general over this past decade has fallen even further from the high pedestal that it was once sat upon, mainly due to a bad reputation getting even more tainted due to more and more silly indie gimmicks, leaving current fans of wrestling giving up on it, not to mention the very few new fans it draws in. Pro Wrestling is said to be in a huge growth period as of late, at least to us fans it is, But to the outside world, It's just another flash in the pan of the "fake" stuff coming back to the limelight, as pro-wrestling as a whole in this "woke" era, where everyone knows it's inner workings, has a very niche audience at best, despite best intentions from companies and promotions. While to fans of wrestling, AEW is showing signs that the wrestling business is in a growth period, but in reality, It isn't, As many non-fans will think, why bother with the fake stuff when they can go and watch some real fights and matches. They don't realise all the hard work and skill that goes into making a pro-wrestling match and a PW event, so all they see is scripted fighting, whereas fans will see something completely different. So with this logic, This will always be wrestling's greatest flaw that prevents mass numbers of new fans tuning in. Say, in a group of ten people who are new to wrestling, only a small number of that ten are going to stick with it based on what I described. Then, take away those people who won't like the things like the comedy stuff that Nakazawa and Orange Cassidy are doing, That already small number that may stick with wrestling will be reduced even more, leaving just a mere few of the ten people remaining, If they're lucky that is, Leaving AEW as just another wrestling show for existing fans, not a company drawing in new viewers. what would they have to do make you and keep you watching? I can't stand the goofy, comedy wrestling that litters the sport in this current day and age. It really puts me off getting into and devoting my time into a new show or company as a lot of Indie shows will book the likes of Chuck Taylor, Joey Ryan, Nakazawa, and Orange Cassidy. And now with AEW, a MAJOR company with a MAJOR TV deal signing these clowns, It really puts a downer on what should be a GREAT TIME in the timeline of the pro wrestling environment. If I'm to keep watching AEW, Get rid of these jokers and get some real wrestlers signed, and cut with the number of silly gimmicks.
