This Day in Wrestling History: 3/13/203/13/2020 As always wrestling gives us both great memories and memories we try and forget, but with the amount of moments worth remembering that have happened we are bound to forget some. The same could be said about some talent that were very much underrated during their career or never at the top of a company during a run this unfortunately makes it easier for fans to forget certain talent. These two are very different talent and had two very different careers while they worked in this great business. Sometimes we encounter those that deserve to be remembered and acknowledged. I would like to wish a very big Happy Birthday to all who are celebrating their special day today and especially to the one featured below. Nerd Note: At one point Beulah McGillicutty and Bill Alfonso were on the chopping block from the ECW roster and then were given the opportunity to prove their worth in a match. The amount of blood Fonzie lost during the match and the effort that both Fonzie and Beulah put into the match showed just how much they cared about ECW and their spots.

Nerd Note: The muscle of the Jurassic Express, Luchasaurus is formerly known as WWE Developmental star Judas Devlin. Devlin was released from the WWE in 2014 soon after WWE closed FCW and opened NXT. In my opinion, Luchasaurus is now on course to be a top star in AEW thanks to the Jurassic Express.

Nerd Note: During the height of his career Ricky Steamboat was part of one of the greatest underrated feuds of all time. The feud included Steamboat & Jay Youngblood against Sgt Slaughter & Don Kernodle this would be one of the earliest major cards for the mid-Atlantic region and these teams would produce one of the top matches of the decade.

Nerd Note: Pierre Lefebvre better known as "Mad Dog" Pierre Lefebvre had a similar look to Mad Dog Vachon and would become a headliner in Canada. Pierre was one of many Canadian stars unable to realize his full potential leaving us far to soon passing away as a result of a car wreck on Christmas Eve 1985. During the territory era wrestling was plagued with a number of unfortunate events and in the span of ten years three car accidents took away a number of legends from wrestling fans. Joey Marella and Adrian Adonis would be tragically pass away as a result of a car accident in 1994 and 1988 respectively. Pierre passed away at the age of 30 years old, Adrien Desbois, local area legend Tarzan Tyler were the other passengers in the car at the time of the accident.

Nerd Note: Even though Ricardo Rodriguez spent time in WWE as a wrestler Jimmy Jacobs never did and was one of the stars that signed with WWE to work in a non wrestling manner. Jacobs was on the creative during his tenure in WWE and was actually the writer behind the advent of the "List of Jericho." Rodriguez was one of the many stars that were comedic relief, but could've done a lot more if given the opportunity.

Nerd Note: During the height of Jersey Shore craze TNA Wrestling took a chance on creating their very own characters based on the series when they introduced Robbie E and Cookie based on Jersey Shore characters Pauly D and Snookie. Female wrestler Becky Bayless was the lady behind the Cookie gimmick. The other wrestler featured Dory Funk Jr would spend time in the early days of ECW as he would help elevate the talent of the future in the young company.

Back to the Territories: Puerto Rico1/6/2020 Even though I know that Kayfabecommentaries.com doesn't sell DVD's anymore that doesn't mean that I can't still recommend the DVD. It is sad that some of favorite series are only available through streaming or digital download instead of DVD's and I know that is a sign of the times it doesn't mean I have to like it. Basically this will not be the last review, but it will be the last review from Kayfabecommentaries for the foreseeable future. This time around we move to the island of Puerto Rico to talk about the legends and mysterious past of the island. Some of the topics Jim Cornette and Savio Vega discuss include: The Popularity of wrestling in Puerto Rico Riots (Fans throwing rocks, screws, piss, diapers, and various other things) Legacy of Carlos Colon, Miguel Perez, Antonio Rocca, Victor Jovica, and others Bruiser Brody Murder Business on the island after Brody's death Thoughts on Victor Quinoes And various other topics!!

2020 Look Forward1/2/2020 With a new year here and 2019 officially in the rear view mirror it is tough to really put into perspective how much things have changed in the last twelve months. In January 2019 there is no way I could've expected heading into Wrestle Kingdom that we would be receiving the announcement of a new wrestling promotion. In twenty years as a wrestling fan I have never really been able to see a promotion get built from the ground up and starting in September 2018 with All In then seeing the Press Conference last January to Double or Nothing in May and now where AEW is now it is insane. I'm very happy for them and all the wrestlers that work there, because it gives wrestling more attention in mainstream media and more the public eye. In all honesty the type of wrestling they often display on the show it isn't really for me, but they have an audience and they are slowly but surely figuring things out. I just hope for 2020 they learn to slow things down a bit during the match to give moves room to breath and have more meaning. For example, let a big move have space to breath and get a reaction before doing another and overshadowing the move you just did. I'm going to keep it simple for the NWA and Impact Wrestling as these two companies are companies I never really thought I'd have enough to talk about. In my lifetime I didn't believe I would ever be able to sit down and watch an episode of modern programming from the NWA, but Billy Corgan proved me wrong. Last year, I gave Impact Wrestling another chance and thus far I have not been too disappointed and have enjoyed the job that Don Callis and Scott D'Amore have done with the promotion. Ask for 2020 just keep building the positive momentum as slow and steady is the best way to go sometimes. This was suppose to be the year or that's what it feels like with all the build we got heading into October and the highly anticipated debut of Smackdown on FOX. With the issues of the overseas show aside it has been an up and down year for WWE. A lot of positives and negatives have made this year a very hard year to call for WWE, but that's expected all I can say is that hopefully they learned some lessons and can not make the same mistakes next year. As far as 2020 is concerned I would like to see WWE take more of an active approach with long term booking and letting fans find ways to get emotionally invested in characters again as a way to allow talent to get over better then they have been in the last few years. Maybe with the new decade WWE can change some philosophies.

Nerd Note: Brad Anderson is a second generation star the son of Gene Anderson and even though he is the son of a very successful tag team performer he never really found his footing on the big scale. In my opinion, Brand Anderson is one of those stars that would've benefited from having a different name to allow him to develop his own personality. However, it never happened and with that Brad did have his chance, but never found his way in the wrestling business.

Nerd Note: Before arriving on the main roster Johnny Jeter was prodigy arriving in OVW at 19 from San Diego. Jeter would put all of his belongings in his car and drive to Kentucky. The story wrote itself and Jeter was a top star for OVW before becoming a male cheerleader on the main roster. Think about it seeing a kid who risked everything to follow his dream over a male cheerleader I know which one I'd prefer.
