Now most fans really forget about the period of time in WCW history pre-Hogan, but in many ways there were underrated moments and events that have fallen out of the spotlight through the years. This event is one of those that have fallen out of the spotlight and it's amazing to think the history this event carries that it could've been forgotten. I know that if you'd take a quick look at the matches on the show you'd think nothing of this event other then the main event and call it a one match show. If you think that then you'd be right as the main event was really the only spectacular match with the tag matches specifically the one featuring the Midnights helping the show out.
The reason that I chose to give this event the spotlight was that this would be the event that Sting would gain his first World Title reign. Two years after he debuted with the WCW they had built him up from day one to fill the role of a top star. I'm not sure that they could've imagined he would reach the status he did to lead the company but it speaks to Dusty's eye for talent that he protected Sting from the start. Though his reign wouldn't be the best looking at you Black Scorpion it would be the start of things to come for the man that would be known as the "Icon."
