The Only Article I Could Write

11/13/2018

Many times over the years we have seen many articles written about this subject and on this day I am sure you will see a lot more. It has been 13 years since Eddie Guerrero's passing shook the wrestling world and left fans wondering what could've happen. In the fall of 2005 we saw Eddie feuding with Batista for the World Title and many believed that Eddie was destined to defeat Dave for the title getting one more run. Wrestling always brings up the question of what if situations and everything that could've happen had things went a little differently.

It took Eddie a while to finally breakthrough in the world of wrestling getting his big break with Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1994. However, his run with the Extreme promotion went well enough that he would be brought in to World Championship Wrestling soon after the launch of Nitro. Eddie would be helped by the Monday Night Wars seeing his stock rise before he would follow the lead of other ring generals and head for the WWE.

Following his return to WWE in 2002 Eddie's career would really get a big push from the start. Eddie was looked as a very reliable hand in the ring normally being given runs with the mid-card titles like the European & Intercontinental Championships. During his early run he would have a legendary feud with Edge leading to some of the top matches in the early years of the brand split. I mean there is a reason that Eddie was a part of the Smackdown six which for those who may not know was a group of wrestlers on Smackdown during this time that were known for their fantastic in-ring skills. The group included: Eddie and Chavo Guerrero, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, and Kurt Angle.

Fast forward two years and Eddie would move into a feud with Brock Lesnar and yes for the WWE championship. Most people never expected Eddie to get the chance to featured on the top billing for a PPV and most especially never thought that he would win the championship. At this point I am 24 years old, but I still remember the day I found out that Eddie passed away and that I didn't believe it at first. I was dumbfounded at first how it could happen and Eddie was the first time that I actually cried when a celebrity passed away. Sadly, Eddie would leave us on November 13, 2005 passing away due to heart failure and was found in his hotel room. It is incredible to think that Eddie has been gone for 13 years at this point and I still remember the day it happened. Thank you Eddie for the memories we will never forget you no matter how many years go by. Rest in Peace "Latino Heat!" Viva Mi Rasa!!!!
